And the 21-year-old who was the Wolves hero said he was surprised at Manchester United’s dreary performance.
"I think I expected more from them but we gave them what they didn't expect," Onuachu told BT Sport. "We gave our best and got the result."
The Danish side face Manchester United in the return leg on February 25 with the Europa League last-16 slot on the line and the Nigerian is hoping for a positive result.
"I'm looking forward to the return leg, hopefully we're going to get something," he continued.
"We've come out as the Danish champions, we beat Southampton and we'll give it our best against United.
"Hopefully we will [win], we just have to be positive. It won't be easy but we'll give our best."
Midtjylland also knocked Southampton out of the Europa League, beating Ronald Koeman's team 2-1 on aggregate in a two-legged playoff
