Amazing
that exercise books which are mostly patronized by primary and
secondary school students would have such provocative covers in a
country like Ghana. It's finally been picked and the outrage machine is
in full swing.
Some businessmen have sparked a social media backlash which has
resulted in various campaigns from Ghanaians after importing exercise
books for students which have half-dressed women on the cover.
According to reports, the books are allegedly imported from China and are sold at Gh 1.20 (N60).
As a result of the alarm raised by concerned citizens and on social
media, the country's Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto
Ablawah, has kicked off an investigation to find the minds behind the
grossly inappropriate books.
The minister took to Twitter and wrote, "We have drawn the
attention of the security to help locate and stop the company behind
these exercise books which appears to be targeted at our school
children.
