The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been accused of
intentionally deceiving Nigerians by claiming that Uche Secondus was
given a gift of 23 cars which were all lies.
The Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has called the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) a bunch of liars after they
claimed he collected 23 exotic cars from one Jide Omokori. Secondus said
such claim is baseless and unfounded.
After he was granted temporary freedom through an administrative
bail on Wednesday night after meeting stringent bail conditions given by
the EFCC, Secondus has come forward to clear the air.
According to ThisDay, the PDP Deputy National Chairman said
contrary to allegations that he got 23 exotic cars, he only received two
cars and an undisclosed number of buses from Omokoari.
The report went further to describe the EFCC allegations and his
subsequent incarceration as part of political intimidation by the All
Progressives Congress (APC) against the opposition political parties.
Secondus revealed that the cars were gifts from Omokoari who has
been his standing friend for over twenty years. He said the cars were
never related to any arms deal money.
Secondus said: “My friend of over twenty years gave me two cars
and buses gifts staggered between 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 and these
are verifiable facts from the way bill and manifest from Skymit Motors
Ltd. The vehicles were given to me as gift as he, Jide Omokori can
attest to this.
”I was also made to understand before receiving the gifts of
the vehicles that it was from credit arrangements that Jide Omokoari had
with the Skymit Motors.
“There is no truth in the EFCC allegations that I collected 23
exotic cars purchased from proceeds of oil swap. These facts can be
cross checked from my friend, Jide Omokori, as he never made such claim,
contrary to some media reports."
