FG To Boost Police Operational Capacity

The Nigerian government says it is funding the procurement of patrol vehicles and other logistics in order to strengthen the operational capacity of the Safer Highway Patrol Scheme of the Nigeria Police Force towards combating crime.

The plan was made known on Friday by the Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahman Danbazzau, at a ceremonial parade of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.
Mr Danbazzau said the Federal Government was also supporting the deployment of Police Personnel towards the stabilisation of security and restoration of Civil authority in the northeast.
Also speaking at the occasion marking the grand finale of the 2016 Police week, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police to providing effective security for the country through community policing efforts.
