A female Muslim contestant in a popular pageant show has come under fire after she posed in a bikini for the contest.
Albina Ildarova has face criticism because of her racy photos
Beautiful Albina Ildarova, 21, is the first representative of the
Republic of Dagestan, in the south-west of the country, ever to take
part in Miss Russia. But, all that has now been dented after she was
bombarded with threatening messages for posing in a swimwear.
However, the photographs of her posing for the swimwear round of
the contest have shocked people in the predominantly Muslim republic and
sparked anger on internet forums.
Many have reacted angrily to the pictures. One furious netizen posted: "One should bury such daughters alive" while another blasted: "This is so f***ed up. Can somebody shoot her?"
Other comments were less extreme but still opposed to what they regarded as an unacceptable display of flesh for a woman.
Marat Isakov said: "She is beautiful, I can’t argue that. But
the fact that a young woman from Dagestan would go on a catwalk in
lingerie makes me very sad."
But she also has her supporters who said she was modest, a "natural, natural beauty" and would make a worthy Miss Russia.
The beautiful Albina Ildarova
Albina comes from a famous kick-boxing family.
Her father is renowned kick-boxing coach Magomedrasul Ildarov while
her mother is two-time European kick-boxing champion Ulyana Yusifova.
She joked to Miss Russia judges that it would be a mistake for anyone to offend her because of her parents' fighting pedigree.
She also said that she enjoys cooking, travelling and playing sports.
More than 4,000 people have voted for Albina so far and she looks
set to be one of the 20 girls to qualify for the final round of the
beauty pageant.
Dagestan is more than 80 percent Muslim.
