Pregnant Mum Saved by Doctors After Baby was Found Growing on Her Liver (Photo)

A pregnant woman would have suddenly dropped dead if not for the intervention of professional doctors who discovered that her baby was growing on the liver instead of her womb.

The woman was saved after the emergency surgery

 

A pregnant Chinese woman would have lost her life if not for the quick intervention of doctors after a baby was discovered to be growing on her liver.

 

Yang, the expectant 30-year-old mother, had reportedly been pregnant for two months, but doctors in Langzhong, China, were unable to find the embryo during medical checks.

 

Subsequent scans at the Langzhong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine revealed worrying news: the fertilised egg was growing outside Yang's womb - and was on top of her liver.

 

Local media said the woman's condition was called ectopic pregnancy.

 

After the discovery, doctors rushed her into emergency surgery after Doctor Yang Xiongye, vice dean of medicine at the hospital, postponed all other operations to focus on the mum's urgent case.

 

At the end, about 10 doctors and nurses took part in the emergency surgery to extract the foetus, lasting some four hours and ending with Yang's gallbladder being removed as well.

 

Doctor Yang Xiongye said of the case: "The mother's liver may have ruptured if the growth continued.

"It would have poisoned her blood and posed a very real threat to her life."

 

Reports said it has been three days since the surgery and Yang is recovering well.

 

She said: "I'm very, very grateful to the doctors.

"They pushed all surgeries to handle my case, and they saved my life."
