Wenger: I wouldn't tell you if Arsenal want Mahrez

The Gunners boss has refused to be drawn on
stories linking them with the Algeria
international, who has starred in Leicester City's
unlikely Premier League title bid Arsene Wenger
has reacted to rumours that Arsenal are moving
to sign Leicester City 's Riyad Mahrez , stating
that even if the Gunners were interested he
would not discuss it with the press.
Wenger's charges have struggled in front of goal
this season, with top scorer Olivier Giroud's
scoring just 12 in the league, and fans have
called for the French boss to sign more
firepower.
Reports had linked the north Londoners with a
move for one of the standout players in the
Premier League this season, who has scored 16
and set up 11 in 33 top flight games, but
Wenger was quick to shut down any questions.
"Even if we were interested in Mahrez, I wouldn't
talk about it at this stage of the season," the
manager told a press conference.
The Frenchman also addressed rumours that
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could leave the
Emirates this summer.
Some stories suggested the duo were waiting to
see if Arsenal qualified for the Champions
League before deciding whether to push for a
move away, but Wenger insists they are happy
where they are.
"They are talking [with the club] and are keen to
stay," he said.
Arsenal's championship hopes are virtually over
following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Crystal
Palace, but Wenger rejected the suggestion that
his side would try and make up for a failure to
win the league by finishing as close to the top as
possible.
"We want to finish as high as we can. It is not
about consolation, it is about getting the best
out of the team."
Leicester are one of just two remaining
contenders for the championship, with Claudio
Ranieri's men five points clear of Tottenham
Hotspur with four games remaining.
And Wenger admitted that he is enjoying the
Foxes' title bid as it is helping to prove that
finances are not everything in football.
"It makes everybody happy," he added. "It
proves it’s also not just about the money.”
Arsenal are currently in fourth place in the
Premier League but will move up to third with
victory over West Bromwich Albion on
Thursday.
