Former Atletico Madrid striker Florent Sinama Pongolle has labelled Diego Costa a “madman” and insists he needs to be wound up to hit top form in matches.
Chelsea forward Costa has seen his temperament frequently called into question since his 2014 move to Stamford Bridge, with the 27-year-old having received four yellow cards already this season.
And Sinama Pongolle, who trained with Costa before moving to Sporting Lisbon back in 2010, says the Spain international is a “madman” and that it’s “hilarious” to watch him lose his temper.
He told Le 10 Sport: “When I went to Sporting the club had no money and so brought back Diego Costa, who was on loan.
“I trained with him and he’s a madman, like what you see on TV. It’s hilarious.

“Otherwise [away from football], he’s a funny guy but on the field he needs to be angry to be good.”
