Chinese Govt. Grants Scholarship To 24 Nigerians
The Chinese Government has offered scholarship to 24 Nigerians to study in various universities in China, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. Mr Qin Jian, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Embassy of China in Nigeria, said today in Abuja at a send off party organised by the embassy for the beneficiaries.
The envoy who described education as the foundation of a nation, said that “since 1987 China has provided 700 government scholarships to Nigerian students.” He also added that “237 Nigerians are currently studying in China under the Chinese government scholarship scheme, apart from the self sponsored ones.”
Ayotunde Adesugba, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information, who spoke on behalf of the Federal Government, thanked the Chinese government for the gesture. According to her, Nigeria and China have come a long way, adding that both countries have a lot to share. Ayotunde charged the students to be worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and ensure they excel in their studies.
Chinese Woman Sparks Outrage After Taking N3ked Daughter Shopping (Photos)
A mother in China has been blasted for taking her naked daughter shopping. The woman was spotted with the child at a supermarket in Xinyang City, central China's Henan province on August 13, reports the People's Daily Online.
Pictures of the young girl, thought to be around two-years-old, have caused outrage on the country's social media sites.
The young girl was spotted in a supermarket with her mother and was photographed by shocked onlookers. They were seen shopping in various sections of the store and the girl was naked the entire time.
On China's social media site Weibo, many people have expressed their outrage on a thread that was read more than 12.7million times.
One user commented: 'As a mother of a one-year-old myself, this is really hard to look at.'
While another said: 'This is a perfect example of child abuse.'
And one user wrote: 'Personally I think this is insulting to the child.'
Two Chinese abducted in Nasarawa regains freedom
The Nasarawa State police has said the two Chinese abducted by gunmen at Ajage Village in Nasarawa Local Government on August 5, 2016 have regained their freedom.
The spokesman for the police in Nasarawa State, Ismaila Numan, made this known to journalists in Lafia today.
Mr. Numan added that the victims were released by their abductors following sustained pressure from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the Police Mobile Force.
Mr. Numan named the freed men as Jien Yung and Wen So Ping attached to West African Polaris Investment
