Leicester City Sign Wifried Ndidi

Premier League champions Leicester have confirmed the signing of Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

“Leicester City can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with KRC Genk for the permanent transfer of Wilfred Ndidi,” the English club announced on their website on Tuesday.
“The Nigerian international midfielder, 20, has agreed personal terms, undergone a medical and will sign a contract to June 2022 once a work permit has officially been granted. He will wear City’s No.25 shirt.”
Ndidi said on Monday that he was on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Leicester to seal the deal.
“The Foxes beat off considerable competition to secure Ndidi’s signature – the tall, combative central midfielder having won a host of admirers across Europe for his performances both in the Belgian Pro League and in the UEFA Europa League, where he helped Genk progress to this season’s knockout stages as Group F winners,” Leicester added on their official website.
“Wilfred makes the move to the Premier League after two years in Belgian football, having joined Genk on his 18th birthday following a successful trial with the club’s academy.
“Originally spotted playing for Nathaniel Boys in an open trial in the Nigerian city of Lagos, he started out as a central defender, before adapting superbly to a defensive midfield role.
“At international level, Ndidi represented Nigeria at Under-17 and Under-20 level, before earning his first senior call-up in October 2015. He has played twice alongside City forward Ahmed Musa for the Super Eagles this season, including an appearance against an Algeria team containing Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani.
“Ndidi is expected to complete the formalities of his move to Leicester City later this week.”

Arsenal bid for Leicester City striker, Vardy

Arsenal are in talks with Leicester City in an attempt to try to sign striker Jamie Vardy.
The Gunners’ bid for the 29-year-old England international is reported to be in the region of £20m and has triggered the release clause in his contract.
Vardy scored 24 goals in the Premier League for Leicester as the Foxes won the 2015-16 title.
The forward, who is currently preparing for Euro 2016, joined City for £1m from Fleetwood in 2012.
Vardy rose through non-league football after being released by Sheffield Wednesday at 16 for being too small, and was named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for 2015-16.
Since making his England debut in 2015, he has scored three times in eight internationals, reports the BBC.
Arsenal, who finished second in the league, 10 points behind Leicester, have already signed Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.
