Manchester United Finally Leaves Sixth Position After Over 100 Days

Some Manchester United fans will probably be rejoicing after Everton moved to sixth position on the Premier League table a position the Red Devils have occupied since October. They stayed there for too long despite presently enjoying a 17-match unbeaten run in the league.

The good news is that United can catch up as they have played only 26 matches while Everton have played 29 matches. If United wins tomorrow they will move to 5th position while Arsenal will move to sixth. A draw will ensure that they have joint points with Arsenal and Everton but they will remain in 7th.

Scholes Slams Pogba As Manchester United Lose To Feyenoord

Paul Scholes says Manchester United’s world record signing Paul Pogba is not performing like the player the club bought for £100million.

‘It’s been a little bit of a struggle for him so far,’ said BT Sport pundit Scholes. ‘Tonight, again, wasn’t his best performance. I think it will come. It’s still very early days.

‘I don’t really know what position he’s playing at the minute. Has he got a position? Has he been told to play where he wants?

‘He seems to be a little all over the place at times. I think he’s trying to do too much on the ball.

‘He’s trying to beat three or four players. He’s running with the ball. He should keep it simple for now.

‘That’s not the player Manchester United bought. They didn’t buy a Lionel Messi to go and beat five players and stick it in the top corner all the time. They bought a powerful, strong midfield player who can take the ball. He’s got skill, he can pass it forward, he can run.’

Pogba also came under fire from Sky Sports pundit and Sportsmail columnist Jamie Carragher for an ‘ill-disciplined’ performance in the Manchester derby last Saturday – a match United lost 2-1.

But Scholes has no doubts concerning the 23-year-old’s ability.

‘If he just plays one-two touch, sticks the ball into Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) and runs, nobody can live with that,’ he said. ‘He’s got so much pace, so much power.’

‘I know he’s (Mourinho) happy with the four players he’s bought but they still need that type of player. A Luka Modric or a Toni Kroos (the Real Madrid midfield pair).

‘I think these players are available. I think Paul Pogba would be a much better player playing with these types of players.’

Grandad Dies Just 45 Minutes After Man United Stars Turn Up At His Home To Grant Dying Wish

This is the moment lifelong Man United fan Paddy Lawler met his heroes - 45 minutes before he died from cancer.

Paddy, a 73-year-old granddad from Wythenshawe, Manchester, had told his family he would love to meet some of his favourite Reds before he passed on.

And so his granddaughter Kayleigh, 27, posted an impassioned appeal on Facebook in the hope someone would be able to make his dream come true.

The post was shared more than 1,000 times and incredibly it was spotted by United winger Jesse Lingaard's cousin.

And three days later some of United's stars - Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young and Timothy Fosu-Mensah - came to visit.

Less than an hour after the players left, Paddy lost his battle with prostate cancer.

Kayleigh paid tribute to the players, describing them as "incredibly selfless".

She posted on Facebook: "Top lads, all four of them. Thanks so much to everyone who helped. Sure my grandad's over the moon."

Her original post read: "Please can everyone share I'm trying to get a few of Manchester United players to come and visit my grandad we asked him the other day if he would like to do anything before his time comes and he said to meet the team I've emailed the Mufc foundation but no reply yet!

"And not sure how long we have left with him so I want to get this as a surprise he's a MASSIVE fan even tried his hardest to keep his eyes open yesterday to watch the match but sadly he missed it!

"I know he will be so gutted that he didn't watch it I'm sure he will be a very happy man If I can get his last wish

"Thankyou to u all Xxx"

Fury As Pep Guardiola Prevents Wayne Rooney From Taking A Quick Throw-In During Match (Photos)

Manchester United fans reacted with fury during the derby clash with City after Pep Guardiola picked up the ball and prevented Wayne Rooney from taking a quick throw-in.

With the hosts a goal behind, captain Rooney was doing his best to pick up the tempo of their play.

As the ball rolled out for a United throw, the 30-year-old sprinted over to take a quick throw.

But City boss Guardiola got their first, picked up the ball and and then initially refused to give it to Rooney.

With his defence back in position, he eventually relinquished, but not before Rooney tried to take the ball from his hands by force.

Understandably, the home support weren't impressed.

The long-term feud between Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola and Swedish striker - Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to be renewed in a heated premier league clash between the Manchester City and Manchester United.

 

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pep Guardiola come together on Saturday in the Manchester derby six years on from an acrimonious 12 months as an unbalanced pairing at Barcelona and their relationship has never healed.

The enigmatic striker, now of Manchester United, sees his former manager as a ‘spineless coward’,the opposite of now-boss Jose Mourinho.

At Old Trafford this weekend both will be desperate to get one over on Guardiola and City.
 

‘If Mourinho brightens up the room, Guardiola pulls down the curtains,’ Ibrahimovic wrote in his 2013 autobiography I Am Zlatan.

The Spaniard has kept quieter on the subject of his former £40million centre forward but the way City’s interest in Ibrahimovic that peaked in 2010 has evaporated was enough recognition of the feud between the pair.

This weekend’s Manchester derby sees that bad blood resurface for the seventh time since the separation that was effectively sealed by a Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Mourinho’s Inter Milan.

Ibrahimovic said:

‘I yelled: “You haven’t got any balls!” and worse than that I added: “You can go to hell!”
‘I completely lost it, and you might have expected Guardiola to say a few words in response, but he’s a spineless coward. He just picked up the metal box, like a little caretaker, and then left, never to mention it again, not a word.’
It was a night of arguably the greatest of Mourinho’s victories over Guardiola and one that sealed Ibrahimovic’s thinking that Pep was not the man for him. His boss already held a similar view.

When Barcelona spent £40m plus the exchange of Samuel Eto’o to take Ibrahimovic from Inter in 2009, the egos of manager and player collided.

Guardiola was looking to replace the outspoken Eto’o and somehow thought the right idea was to approach Ibrahimovic,rarely one to mince his words. Former AC Milan tactician Arrigo Sacchi warned the manager ahead of time that it was the wrong move but he did not listen.

2018 world Cup will be my last tournament with England - Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney has confirmed the 2018 World Cup in Russia will be his last with England.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of the opening World Cup qualifier with Slovakia on Sunday Rooney confirmed he plans to call it a day in two years' time.

"Realistically I know myself that Russia will be my last opportunity to do anything with England. Hopefully I can end my time with England on a high.

"I said before the Euros I enjoyed playing in this team, and that's the case still. There were some questions about whether I should stop playing, but I am looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

"I made my mind up before the Euros, whether we did well or not, that I was going to continue. I've had nothing to think about since then." He added: "My mind is made up... Russia will be my last tournament."

Manchester United have confirmed the world record transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus.

The Frenchman completes a sensational return to Old Trafford, the club he walked away from in 2012, for £90million.

Pogba has put pen to paper on a five-year deal as he confirmed his return to the Premier League. And the Frenchman is delighted to have returned to the club four years on.

“I am delighted to rejoin United. It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with José Mourinho. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends. But I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford.
