Reason why saraki visited osibanjo

But facts later emerged that it was a move by Saraki to mend the cracked fences caused by his emergence as the Senate President within the All
Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari, who is reported not to have liked the scenario which threw up Saraki.

The senate President is seeking the help of Obasanjo to reconcile him and the aggrieved leadership of the party as well as the President
Buhari Saraki was accompanied by the erstwhile governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senators Andy Ubah, Sanni Yerima and Danjuma Goje, arrived at Obasanjo’s residence at around 9:15a.m and went straight into a closed- door meeting with the former President.

The meeting lasted for almost two hours. At the end of the meeting, Obasanjo and his visitors took a group photograph. The Senate President thereafter told newsmen
that they were in Obasanjo’s home to pay homage to him as a leader and to as well tap from his wealth of experience.

“I’m here with some of my colleagues. Since I’ve been the Senate President, as one of our fathers, the former President, we are here to pay our homage to him, to seek his advice, to get his blessing and also to consult. We all know
President Obasanjo’s value to this country and we are here to tap from his wisdom and that knowledge and that experience,” he said.

Asked how far he has gone to sort out the furore generated in APC by his emergence as the Senate President, Saraki said: “As you can see, things are moving smoothly. Definitely be rest assured that
all that would be put behind us very shortly. We are very confident about that.” However, a source later revealed that the Senate President was in Abeokuta to appeal Obasanjo to intervene in the seeming disagreement between him, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Saraki against the decision of the party leaders became the Senate President of the Senate in an
election that was held in the absence of majority of APC senators who were waiting were at the
International Conference Centre for a meeting with Mr. Buhari on the election of the Senate president
and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Saraki was said to have told Obasanjo that
although the party leaders claimed have accepted
his election as the Senate President, there was
still “complete communication breakdown
between him, the president and the party.”
Recall that the party’s National Chairman, APC,
John Oyegun, last week abruptly cancelled a
meeting that was to hold between and Saraki
without fixing another date for it.
It was also learnt that the Senate President had
tried to meet with President Buhari after his
emergence, but the President refused to meet
him.
It was also learnt that the President was not
happy with Saraki and the National Assembly
management for going ahead with the election
even when they knew that the President was to
meet with APC senators, one of which is Saraki,
considering the act as a show of disrespect for
the office of the president.
