Millionaire Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth 'may be' joining the People's Democratic Party in the race to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari or another candidate presented by the ruling All Progressives Congress for the 2019 presidential election.

 

Six days ago, Nigerian 'slippery tongue' - Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth mocked the chances of Donald Trump's victory at the just concluded United States of America presidential election where he defeated Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party that produced President Barack Obama.

 

According to the 38-year old rapper and actor, he would run for the Nigerian presidency in 2019 if Donald Trump of the Republican Party emerges as the winner of the election.

 

In his words:

 

"If Donald Trump wins the US election, I'm so running for the Presidential election in Nigeria 2019," he posted. Events turned against his cynicism and sarcasm when Trump orchestrated a dramatic upset in the election that saw him cruise to sensational victory despite the controversies that trailed his candidacy.

 

 

 

To fulfill his vow, Basketmouth declared his presidential ambition without a political party announced.

 

"My Esteemed people, in fulfillment of my threat/promise regarding the outcome of the just concluded #uspresidentialelection I am announcing my candidacy for the Office of the President of our dear country in the 2019 general elections. Consultations are ongoing and I will announce at a future date under what party. #MakeNigeriaBRIGHTAgain," he said.

Nigerian comedian and comic actor, Basketmouth has dared Republican Presidential Candidate in the United States, Donald Trump saying he will run for the 2019 Presidential election in Nigerian if Trump wins.

 

It is a popular belief by many including Basketmouth that Donald Trump will lose out to Democratic Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton in the November election. 

 

"If Donald Trump wins the US election, I'm so running for the Presidential election in Nigeria 2019,"Basketmouth said.

 

It would be recalled that this week, the Nobel literature laureate, Wole Soyinka said he will destroy his greencard and leave the country if Trump wins.

“If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that,” said Soyinka, who is scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs this autumn.

 

"It’s a constant fight to try to get a nation to recognise its own noble persuasions … the loftiness of human possibility.

“What is happening in Europe shouldn’t surprise any of us … It has happened before,” he said. “We were here when Enoch Powell was leading his thugs out to drive blacks from here … it’s a constant fight to try to get a nation to recognise its own noble persuasions, its own persuasions of the loftiness of human possibility.
