Work-out, S*x & More: Here are 11 Tips to Help You Stay Motivated as a New Mom

Having a baby is a wonderful thing. It's a privilege that God has given us to create life. Caring for your baby is also a privilege; people pray for these things world over, on a daily basis. It shouldn't be taken for granted.

From experience, I know that caring for your new baby can be very demanding – physically, emotionally, psychologically. I previously wrote an article about things no one warned me about being a new mum.

 

I guess this article can serve as a kind of “solution” for those challenging times. Here are a few tips to help you relax and stay motivated

 

1. Get help

 

Your baby will be very fine without you. You, on the other hand, might not be…if you’re over-worked. Let someone take care of your baby for a few hours. That way, you can have more time to relax, or to do house chores.

2. Treat yourself

 

Treat yourself to a manicure/pedicure session. Treat yourself to a new hairdo. Try shopping for new clothes or shoes. Your feet are probably half a size larger now, anyway.

 

3. Do things you enjoy

 

Some things I enjoy doing indoors are: reading blogs and playing phone games. Even though they sound basic, they help me relax.

 

4. Date night (or Date afternoon)

 

It might be tricky to leave your baby at home to have dinner with your husband for an extended period of time in the evening. Why not try afternoon? Saturday, Sunday? Talk about things you love about each other, gossip, eat dessert, laugh!

5. Go out with friends

 

You remember how you used to “hangout” with your friends when you did not have a baby? You might need some of that girl time now.

6. Work out

 

Thirty minutes of work out never hurt anyone. Download a workout app to your phone and use it. Sign up at a gym, and use it. On the days I work out, I feel energized and motivated.

 

7. Watch movies

 

This is a personal fave. I love going to the cinema. You can even go with baby, just make sure baby is protected from the cold. Alternatively, you can just “netflix and chill”.

 

8. Take a long bath

 

The feeling of warm water against my skin is one of the most refreshing experiences for me. It’s as though the feeling sends a trigger to my brain that makes my brain release soothing hormones into my blood stream.

 

9. Take a walk

 

Sometimes, all you need is time alone. Time to breath, time to think, time away. Try walking around your neighbourhood early in the mornings or in the evenings, to avoid the tropical scorching sun. The fresh air is enough to “heal” you.

 

10. Deep sleep

 

This is a no-brainer. This is the first thing a new mum lacks. Getting as much rest and sleep as possible is medically recommended. So, once baby sleeps, take a quick nap.

 

11. Have s*x

 

This is subjective. It depends on your personal experience and/or your peculiar circumstance. Some people find that their sex drive diminished after they had their babies. Others, as a matter of fact, found that it improved. If it improved, then maybe, it can be channeled to be used as a relaxation technique.

 

Just ensure you use a reliable birth control method if you’re not trying for more babies just yet. You can also download an app to monitor your ovulation; this way, you can avoid intercourse during and around the period of your ovulation.

 

I’d say read a book, but who am I kidding? It never worked for me. Each time I picked up a novel, the sound of my baby crying interrupted my deep slumber.

See Lovely Mom Who Drowned While Saving Her Child. (Photos)

A 33-year-old mother, Chelsey J. Russell of Lakewood Colorado, died while rescuing her two-year-old son who had fallen into Lake Powell, Utah, from a boat they were travelling in. The whole family was out boating on the landmark lake when the 2 year old boy fell overboard. Chelsey jumped in after him to save him from drowning while other family members tried to stop the houseboat they were in and turn it around to pick both of them up. 

Although the entire ordeal lasted just a few minutes, by the the time family members had reached the mother and son, Chelsey was unconscious. Neither she nor her son had been wearing life jackets at the time of the incident. 

Miraculously, she had managed to place her son on her chest with the little boy's head just above the waterline and he was able to breathe. 

Eventually Chelsey and her son were pulled back into the boat, at which point family members began performing CPR on her. The family reached the shore a short time later where attempts to resuscitate Chelsey continued, but she was pronounced dead shortly after. 

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office gave a little further explanation on social media as to why it took so long for the family to turn their boat around and pick Chelsey and the boy up. 
He said: 

"A significant distance developed between the mother and child and the houseboat before the houseboat could be shut down'.

Deputies said Chelsey's brother even untied a smaller boat being towed by the houseboat so they could reach mother and son faster but by that time Chelsey was completely under water. 

The two-year-old son was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Flagstaff, Arizona, but has since been released. 

The doting mother worked as a lawyer in Denver. The firm posted a statement in memory of Russell on its website Thursday: 

'Chelsey was an amazing mother, an exceptional legal talent, an extraordinary athlete, a loyal and generous friend, and left us all better for knowing her. She is sorely missed.'

Girl Raped, Stabbed, Cut Into Pieces On Her 10th Birthday By Her Mother’s BF & Cousin Without Mom Saying A Word

On the day a girl was going to celebrate her 10th birthday, she was found murdered in her family's apartment in New Mexico by police officers, her dismembered remains wrapped in a burning blanket.

Details of what Gov. Susana Martinez and law enforcement officials described as an unspeakable crime emerged Thursday in a criminal complaint made public and filed against the girl's mother, her boyfriend and his cousin. The three were arrested late Wednesday night.

Police say the girl, identified Thursday afternoon as Victoria Martens, was injected with methamphetamine, sexually assaulted, strangled and stabbed before being dismembered. 

Early Wednesday morning, police received a call about a disturbance inside a unit at the Arroyo Villas Apartment Complex on Irving Boulevard. Officers who responded to the address came upon a gruesome crime scene in the bathroom, said Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden. 

'This is a horrific tragedy for our community,' Eden told reporters. 'I want to assure the public that we will pursue justice and we will make sure that we exhaust every resource into this investigation.'

The girl's mother, 35-year-old Michelle Martens, her 31-year-old boyfriend, Fabian Gonzales, and his 31-year-old cousin, Jessica Kelley, face charges of child abuse resulting in death, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. 

Gonzales and Kelley have also been charged with criminal sexual penetration of a minor.

According to the criminal complaint, Martens made a confession, telling police Gonzales drugged the girl so he could 'calm her down' and have sex with her. She said Kelley held her hand over the child's mouth and she stabbed the girl in the stomach after Gonzales had choked her.

The complaint also states that the mother, who also has a younger son, told investigators that Gonzales and Kelley dismembered Victoria.

One of the police officers who arrived at the apartment found the girl's body in a bathroom, rolled up in a blanket that had been set on fire. The officer put it out.

Some of her remains were found in a plastic bag in a hamper near the kitchen, reported The Albuquerque Journal, citing court records.

Teen Stabbed At Home Staggered To Her Mum's Room & Screamed Her Ex-BFs Name Before Dying

A 16-year-old girl used her last words after being stabbed in her Los Angeles-area home to scream the name of the ex-boyfriend she broke up with two weeks ago, helping make him a suspect in her death Friday.

The girl's screams woke her mother up and roused neighbors from sleep just after 3 am in the quiet neighborhood in Pico Rivera, about 10 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, Lt. Eddie Hernandez said.

Elena Lillian Moore had been stabbed at least once in the chest, and she collapsed and died in front of her mother a short time after yelling the name 'Rory.' 

'She was yelling and screaming his name. It's horrible,' Hernandez said. 'Can you imagine waking up to the screams of your daughter at 3:15 in the morning and this happens? It's unthinkable.'

Investigators were searching for Elena's 17-year-old former boyfriend, Rory Murga. Evidence found at the crime scene also tied Rory to the home, Hernandez said.

Two photographs of Murga were released after investigators searched for him for twelve hours. 

A kitchen knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack was recovered inside the home, Hernandez said.

It was unclear whether Elena let her killer into the home or whether the attacker broke in, he said, adding that damage found to the back door could have happened in the past.

The stabbing happened downstairs, and Elena was able to run upstairs to her mother before collapsing, Hernandez said.

Elena, also was known as Lily, and Rory dated for a year until she ended the relationship two weeks ago, he said.
