I Will Be Going Into Politics In Future –Cobhams

Though physically challenged, Cobhams Asuquo has not allowed anything to hold him back in life and has assured us once again that indeed, nothing will hold him back. While speaking with Saturday Beats in a new chat, the music producer and singer said, he will be going into politics in the nearest future. Hear him;

“I would venture into politics later in life. I might also become a preacher. I would want to venture into politics because I feel like someone needs to step up and take position of leadership, someone with the heart for people and one who would do things differently. I am not the most perfect person in the world but I definitely have good intentions and I intend to translate them into results. That is how I live my life. I learn and get better and I think I am building the skills for leadership,” he said.

The singer acknowledged that the Nigerian political space is filled with corrupt people but he advised that it should not stop Nigerians with good intent from indicating interests in being in the helm of affairs in the country.

Cobhams said, “I know a lot of people who are not corrupt and they want to venture into politics. So what should we do? Because the political space is filled with corrupt people we should do nothing about it and let corruption reign? We have to try. We have already hit rock bottom and the only way to go is up; so it is worth trying.”

Nigerian Music Industry Is Yet To Acknowledge Producers- K-Solo

One of Nigeria’s early music producers, K-Solo is not happy about the way musicians and the music industry as a whole are treating music producers especially the young ones. He says producers are the ones who produce the hits on the streets, but only artistes gain from it. They are the ones with big cars and houses and get endorsement deals from songs jointly made by two parties, leaving the other man- the producer broke. K-Solo said this is a chat with Showtime… Hear him;

“Music producers don’t get their due recognition. It’s beyond producing a song. I started the voice signature concept for the songs I produced before every other producer started it.

Aside that, we don’t get any other recognition. Check out many artistes in Nigeria, most of them have big houses and drive good cars, but these young music producers have nothing. Most of them don’t even have a car. They have produced major hit songs that have built houses for some of these artistes. The biggest accolade you get as a music producer is accompanying a popular artiste to an event. That is the end of it. Continue...

In the USA, music producers live like celebrities. How many music producers have gotten an endorsement deal aside from Cobhams and Don Jazzy? We cannot develop the music industry that way. OJB produced African Queen and he died without an endorsement deal. There are only a few of us who have other businesses outside of  music”, he said.
