Woman's Hijab Pulled Down In Busy London Street In 'Shocking Racially-Motivated Attack'

A woman had her hijab pulled down by a man in a racially motivated assault on a London street last month. The victim, in her 20s, was not injured but was shocked and distressed by what happened.

She was walking on High Road in Seven Sisters, north London, with a female friend at about 7.30pm on Wednesday 28 September. As they crossed the road by the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, she was approached from behind by two men.

One of them pulled down the hijab she was wearing, before both men made off towards Pelham Road, Scotland Yard said.

The first suspect is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, with blond or ginger shaved hair and stubble. Police said he was about 5ft 6in and wearing a burgundy hooded top and carrying a Tesco bag in his right hand.

The second suspect was of Mediterranean appearance, in his late 20s or early 30s and clean-shaven, with spiky hair. He wore a grey hooded top.

Det Const Ben Cousin, of Haringey Community Safety Unit, said: “The was a shocking attack in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street. Racially and religiously motivated crimes will not be tolerated. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack to contact police.”

The police are yet to find the men.

Muslim Condemns Some Wears On Display In Amazon

A sexy Burka costume with a plunging neckline that reveals cleavage that was advertised on Amazon has been taken down by the online store after it prompted furious comments from Muslims who branded it 'disgusting' and 'racist'.

The dress complete with a face veil and modelled by a white Caucasian woman, could be bought for just under £20 and was described on Amazon as a “sexy Saudi burka Islamic costume” with “a lovely soft stretch material”.

Besides the sexy Burka costume was another advert of clothing that showed “Arab” costumes modelled by white men wearing make-up.

Amazon users blasted the website, branding them racists, one user said; “You’re all disgusting racists. My culture is not your costume.”

While another user said: “A person’s culture is NOT a fancy dress costume,” and one more added: “Is this some sort of mockery to the religion.”

Another user said: “Whoever you are fear Allah. It’s not a joke.”

A spokesman for the online store said: “All Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who don’t will be subject to action including potential removal of their account.

“The product in question is no longer available.”

Pilgrims Are Given Identification Bracelet For Safety Purpose

Saudi Arabia has begun issuing hajj pilgrims with identification bracelets one year after a stampede killed around 2,300 people. The bracelets are a reassurance to some pilgrims, though their distribution has been far from systematic ahead of the formal start of the hajj on Saturday.
Saudi Arabia announced an investigation into last year’s stampede which happened during the hajj stoning ritual, but no findings have ever been published. Public statements and Saudi press reports show that changes have been made to prevent overcrowding even though no one was ever blamed for the tragedy. After the disaster — the worst ever in hajj history — some foreign officials expressed concern about difficulties in identifying the dead. Each plasticised paper bracelet carries a bar code readable by smartphone. It indicates the pilgrim’s identity, nationality and place of lodging in Mecca. Additional data includes a contact in the pilgrim’s delegation and details provided when his or her visa was issued, the vice secretary of the ministry of hajj and umrah, Issa Rawas, told AFP. “The aim is to equip all pilgrims” from abroad, who are expected to number more than 1.4 million, he said. Rawas did not specify the number of bracelets issued so far.
Nabil Melhem, 61, a Palestinian bricklayer, wears one of the official bracelets, which he said cost about two riyals (53 cents). It is “like a passport,” said Melhem, of the occupied West Bank. The bracelet is two centimetres (almost an inch) wide and coloured green for pilgrims from Arab countries. “If we get lost, if we die, if we are sick or unable to talk, they can contact our delegation, thanks to the bracelet,” he told AFP. In the crowds which fill the Grand Mosque and its surroundings day and night, AFP saw numerous pilgrims wearing bracelets. But some were issued by travel agents and don’t include the data recorded in the government’s bracelet.

Muslim Preacher Rants Outside Court After Calling Woman ‘A Slut And Satan’ For Wearing Tight Jeans

A street preacher called a fellow Muslim a prostitute and a slut for wearing tight jeans and vowed to “follow her home and blow her up”, a court heard yesterday.

Jobless Krissoni Henderson, 31, allegedly chanted pro-ISIS slogans at terrified student Noor Alneaimi, 38, along with a group of men in robes, as a crowd of 60 gathered in central Birmingham.

She told the city’s JPs: “He said, ‘Look at your tight jeans. You’re a kafir’.

“I don’t think he thought I was a Muslim.

“He kept saying, ‘Satan, Satan. You shall burn in hell’.”

Henderson, of Hockley, who was with his pregnant wife at the time, denies using racially aggravated insulting words or behaviour. Police arrived at the scene and questioned Henderson at the time, before arresting him the following day.

The hate preacher seized the opportunity to have his say about the charges on Tuesday.

He shouted outside Birmingham Magistrates’ Court: “You treat us like dogs in your country.”

During the hearing, Henderson could be seen pacing around the dock and shaking his head. At one point during the proceedings, he turned his back on the room to pray.

Prosecutor Simon Brownsey told the court: "It's the Crown's case that at the hands of Mr Henderson this woman was the victim of religious and offensive words, including calling her a kafir - a derogatory term for a non-believer.

"(He also said) he would follow her home and blow her up.

"At the time he wasn't known to her and she has expressed concerns about seeing him again because of the threat.

"She was listening to a Christian preacher on New Street and the defendant was also present.

"He targeted Noor Alneaimi by observing she was wearing tight jeans and told her to take them off.

"He told her she was Satan, she was the devil, she was a slut, she was a prostitute.

"He said: 'Take off your tight jeans or you're going to burn in hell, kafir. I'm going to follow you home and blow up your house.'"

Bellowing outside court on Tuesday, Mr Henderson said: “Don’t judge me because I have got a beard.

“Judge me on what I do know.

“That’s what you’re supposed to do.”

He continued: “Let me see what happens when I put on this gown... All of a sudden I am a terrorist now?

“All of a sudden I am a suicide bomber now?

“No. We are not terrorists and we are not suicide bombers, we are loving, peaceful, law-abiding citizens and we live according to the law of whatever country we are in."

The trial was adjourned.
