A Cherubim and Seraphim prophetess, 41-year-old Sola Ajayi, who allegedly stole a Canadian-breed life turkey valued at N30, 000, is to remain behind bars, an Ile Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun ruled on Monday.

Ajayi was ordered to be kept in prison custody over his inability to perfect her bail. Chief Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode had granted her bail in the sum of N30, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Ijiyode added that the surety must be a civil servant and should also reside within the court’s jurisdiction. No civil servant showed up to stand surety for her and the magistrate remanded the prophetess in prison custody until the bail condition was met.

The accused was arraigned on a charge of stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 16 at about 4.00 p.m. at Iloromu Quarters, Mokuro, Ile Ife. Osanyintuyi said the accused stole the life turkey valued at N30, 000, property of a woman, Khadijat Lamidi.

The offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002. Counsel to the accused, Mr. Olalekan Babatunde, urged the court to grant her bail.

The case was adjourned to Nov. 26 for hearing.

Coup: Turkey Suspends, Dismiss Thousands Of Police Officers, Military Personnel

Turkey has suspended more than 500 military personnel, mostly officers, from the air force and navy for suspected ties to the US-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen who is blamed for the botched coup, local media reported on Wednesday.

Tens of thousands of people have already been arrested or lost their jobs in the relentless crackdown under the state of emergency declared in the wake of the July 15 attempted coup.

A total of 113 personnel from the navy, and 427 from the air force have been temporarily suspended as part of an investigation into the group led by Gulen, Defence Minister Fikri Isik was quoted as saying by the Dogan news agency.

He said 368 of the suspended personnel were officers.

In total, 3,699 military personnel have been dismissed from the Turkish armed forces in the wake of the coup, the minister added. Half Turkey's contingent of generals from before the coup have either been arrested or dismissed.

The announcement comes a day after Turkey suspended 12,801 police officers from duty -- 2,523 of them police chiefs.

Turkish officials say a suspension is a "precautionary measure" intended to stop suspects from interfering with the official investigation, adding that suspended personnel receive two thirds of their salary.

Turkey has launched a vast crackdown on plotters of the attempt to oust President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from power.

Some 32,000 suspects had been remanded in custody so far, according to government figures.

Turkey accuses Gulen of orchestrating the July 15 coup plot at the helm of a group Ankara calls Fethullah Terror Organisation (FETO).

Gulen and his supporters deny the claims, saying he merely runs a peaceful organisation called Hizmet (Service).

Hundreds of protesters called for justice in Istanbul today for a transgender woman who was brutally murdered in the street. LGBT activist Hande Kader was found dead in a forest on August 8.

Watched by anti-riot police they also carried banners stating "let's fight for our survival" close to the famous Istiklal Avenue near Taksim Square.

Ebru Kiranci, spokeswoman for Istanbul's LGBTI Solidarity Association, said: ""We will not stop until we find those responsible for Hande Kader's murder."

Transgender Prostitute Found Dead On Turkey Street

The body of a transgender prostitute has been found mutilated and badly-burnt on a road side in Istanbul. The murder of sex worker and political activist Hande Kader is the latest in a string of violent hate attacks carried out against the Turkish LGBT community.

Kader, 22, was last seen getting into a client’s car before her body was found in the posh neighbourhood of Zekeriyakoy.

A missing person’s report was filed last week after the victim’s partner alerted authorities that she had not returned home.

Her burnt corpse was later positively identified at the city morgue. Kader had previously been pictured at LGBT rallies and was filmed being arrested by police at a demonstration in Istanbul.

This latest murder comes less than two weeks after the beheading of a gay Syrian refugee whose body was found a few miles from where Kader was discovered.

Muhammed Wisam Sankari, who had fled war torn Syria, was found decapitated after being raped and assaulted.
