Checkout the 8 Best Moments In Every Relationship

There are special moments in the life of any couple that serve to ignite and, or retire the bond between the lovers. These are some of those moments.

In every relationship, there are important milestones to be reached. Here is a list of eight important moments that every couple should aim to reach in their relationship

1. First Declaration

The ultimate romantic moment in a relationship is the first time you say the three sacred words, I love you. It’s the defining moment. First declarations must always be celebrated with a suitable commemoration since it’s the first sign that a couple really does rather like each other.

2. First Holiday

The first holiday. This can always be a little overwhelming but is a test of whether the relationship is built to last. A poor holiday will only create bad feeling and lead to arguments, so it’s always important to look for something truly memorable that can be cherished.

3. Anniversary

An anniversary is always a special moment in a relationship. It’s a day to hold dear everything that makes your relationship amount to what it is. Every anniversary ought to be marked in the manner your relationship deserves.

4. Moving In Together

The first step towards real long-term commitment, the halfway plunge is a hugely important aspect of any relationship.

5. Engagement

If moving in together is the first step towards retirement, engagement will be the last, step. Popping the question requires the right moment at the right place and, of course, the right person.

6. Marriage

Marriage is a true declaration of love. Planning the perfect wedding is a great task. The build up of the big day is a time of great anticipation and anxiety for both the bride and groom. This day brings a sense of joy and relief.

7. Honeymoon

Since the knot has been tied it is only normal as a couple to go on a romantic getaway, and celebrate the life ahead. It’s important that the honeymoon is in a quiet serene location, suiting both of your desires.

8. Children

Deciding to have children is a very important milestone as you reach a new stage of responsibility and develop a new kind of love. The rest of your lives would be more devoted to the beautiful children who’ll be depending on you for everything.

When You're S*xually Attracted to Your Brother or Sister In-Law

Illustrative photo

Last week, a lady shared her story on how her elder sister’s husband tried to r*pe her and how she struggled and finally escaped his beastly claws. Her sister wasn’t home when all this was happening and when she came home she found out her sister’s demeanor had changed. She disrespected her husband and told her sister she wanted to leave. It was after she left that she got to know about what transpired from their mum.

There’s another story I heard sometime ago about a wife who slept with her brother in-law. Her husband travels a lot and each time he does, he would invite his brother to come stay with his family. After a while, his brother and his wife started an amorous relationship until they were both caught pants down by her husband.

Honestly, I can’t really fathom how or why a person will be sexually attracted to a brother-in-law or sister in-law. Please how do these things happen? Do you people fall in love? Or you just ask for a make out session? What sort of ojukokoro is this? You also want to eat the same pie your brother or sister is eating?

I’m of the view that, if you can sleep with your brother or sister in-law, then you can sleep with your child too. Sleeping with your brother or sister in-law is as bad as sleeping with your own flesh and blood. It’s another dimension of incest.

If you cannot be s*xually attracted to your siblings why should you be attracted to your sibling’s spouse? Do your siblings have dragons on their heads? Do they spit fire? Are they not beautiful or handsome?  Don’t your sisters have figure eight? What about your brother? Are they not tall, dark and handsome?

I’m sure you want to puke as you read this. So, if you do, why should you creep into your sister or brother in-law’s bed at night? Why should you have a hard on when she is cooking for you in the kitchen?  Why should you be tempted to slip your hands under her dress when no one is watching?

Besides, madam wifey, why are you quick to jump into your brother-in-law’s arms? Why have you suddenly found his pink lips kissable? How come an innocent brush of his hands makes you wet?

Give me a freaking break here! It’s really disgusting! What happened to your vows? Have you forgotten that you don’t s**t where you eat and you don’t eat where you s**t? I know many people have extra-marital affairs but doing it with your sibling’s spouse is way too much.  This is just a hot and casual affair with no future, so if you must cheat, please go beyond the family circle.

Anyone who is already into this or has intention to go into this needs help because committing such terrible acts all because you want to satiate a sexual urge is evil. Your spouse’s sister or brother is a no-go area and your brain should tell you it’s not okay. Marriage is scared and shouldn’t be desecrated. You and your spouse have a beautiful relationship with children, so should you jeopardize everything because of a quickie? What kind of legion of demons is disturbing the organs concealed in your pants? You should know that your penis or vagina is wired to be under your control and not the other way round. Don’t let foolish lust becloud your judgment.

Besides, you should know your sister or brother in-law is not available for whatever reason(s) and lusting after either is a mere waste of time. If you are nursing this fantasy and thinking of walking up to your brother or sister in-law to talk about your feelings, you should know it would damage your relationship, if the feeling were not mutual.

Also, I’m calling on brothers in-law and husbands who have tried in the past to r*pe or who have intentions to rape. Do you think after you rape your sister in-law, your wife will be happy with you? If she is as strong-headed like I am, this kind of case will be settled in court. This cannot be a family matter, because you ceased being family since you forcibly had carnal knowledge of an innocent girl. Men who rape women don’t deserve to be pitied; they’re monsters and should be handed over to the appropriate authorities. No amount of bribes given to the police can cure this madness. Rape is more or less like murder and so the culprit should be treated like a murderer.

Since you can’t control the dangling modifier between your legs, you should be locked up. You’re lucky you’re going to jail because if you continue that way, very soon that lust will get you seven feet under and at that point no one will be able to help you. Please spare me the details of the seduction story. Even if you were seduced, you have a right to walk away and be honourable.

Betraying your spouse for sex with his or her sibling is the height of disrespect that will haunt you for the rest of your life. On this kind of thing, I think divorce is an option and any pastor, Imam, or elder that tries to plead on behalf of the culprit should be locked up with him or her.

It’s better you look deeply at yourself and find out why you’re not totally committed to your marriage instead of plotting how to sleep with your in-law. Stop distracting yourself by getting excited by the forbidden fruit. Tell yourself the truth; you can’t be in love with your spouse’s siblings!  You are simply crazy and selfish! When your erection or orgasm has taken total control of your head, that’s what happens. You will have no control over your sexual urge and everything is in.

Whenever you’re set ablaze by the object of your lust, go to the toilet and masturbate instead of disgracing yourself or just take a walk out of the premises or speak to your spouse and devise a way for the sibling to move out. I am sure you won’t be able to tell your spouse the reason(s) but please stand your ground and be as far as possible away from that person. If you have a problem with your spouse, discuss at length and look for ways you can both find a solution. You can go on a holiday and if you are lucky, your spouse is honest about his/her emotions, don’t judge him.

Listen and don’t interrupt, just let your spouse talk and encourage him or her. After you have tried all these and symptoms persist, go seek counseling and deal with whatever is frightening you away from your spouse.

Here Are the Most Dangerous S*x Styles You Must Avoid

Scientists have revealed that vigorous sexual intercourse and some s*x positions can be dangerous enough to cause a man's p*nis to break.
*Photo used for illustrative purpose*

Blokes are at greatest risk of suffering a “broken penis” when having s*x doggy style, experts warn.

It comes just ahead of the missionary position. The third most likely cause is “overzealous masturbation”, followed by the cowgirl, where the woman straddles her fella.

A penile fracture happens when tubes keeping up an erection bend with an agonising pop after being accidentally thrust against a hard object such as a partner’s pubic bone. NHS figures suggest up to 18 cases were treated by hospital medics in the UK last year.

The risk is highest during “vigorous sexual intercourse”.

Men in their 20s and 30s are most likely to suffer due to better fitness and firmer erections. In one case, US doctors in Seattle treated a patient who had tried to penetrate his wife with a flying leap. The most risky s*x positions were drawn up by Brazilian researchers after quizzing 90 victims.

Their study was published in the International Journal of Impotence Research. TWO women went to hospital after suffering freak injuries in a threesome.

One toppled 10ft over a balcony railing during the romp with a man and broke bones in her legs. Her naked pal then slipped as she ran downstairs to help her, suffering neck and arm fractures at an apartment in Bad Breisig, Germany.

4 Things a Woman Must Not Tell a Man in Bed

When a woman falls for a man, she expects him to love her totally. However, in a bid to warm up, there are things you should refrain from telling a man about yourself!

Sex & Relationship Expert, Dr Pam Spurr, warns that there are some things you should really keep to yourself if you don’t want to ruin the moment or lose your man.

Check out the following list.

• Don’t discuss ex-boyfriend’s p*nis size with a new man! The fact that you couldn’t have sex for a week after being with a man of larger penis size is something he doesn’t want to know. If you think telling him you were in pain for that week proves you aren’t a size queen, it doesn’t. He’ll start worrying he doesn’t measure up.

• Don’t disclose how many men you’ve had s*x with! You’ve just had great sex and tell him that of all 10, 20 or 30 guys you’ve slept with, he’s the best. Ugh!? Until you trust that he’s not the judgemental type, keep the numbers to yourself. After all, it’s none of his business.

• Don’t discuss your monthly moans. Jokingly announcing to him that he’s lucky he just missed the time of the month when you turn into a bit of a monster might cause him some anxiety. Men are usually embarrassed to talk about monthly moans with a new girlfriend.

• Avoid nerve-wracking pillow talk. One sex survey found that over two thirds of women worry about what to say after having sex with a new guy. New sex can be scorching hot, plus you love the post-coital cuddles. But you don’t want to mess up the bedroom bliss by saying the wrong thing!

To Get Marriage Proposal, Women Should Date Multiple Men - Relationship Experts Makes Shocking Claim

A relationship expert has made a new claim about what it actually takes for a woman to get her marriage proposal.

According to a relationship expert, sleeping with multiple men is the best way to encourage someone to propose.

Women should date with multiple men in the same period if they wish to settle down, a leading relationship coach has advised.

Monogamy is the model that many women follow in the bid to settle down and get married. However, women who remain faithful while dating are doing it all wrong, according to one expert.

According to The Punch, the relationship expert argues that dating one man at a time means a woman has closed down all her options early on, which can often make her prematurely commit to a man who may not be the best fit for her in the long run.

“If you’re a single woman who’s serious about finding ‘The One,’ the best way to do it is to make sure you’re dating several men at once,” claimed Sami Wunder, author of Your Feminine Roadmap To His Commitment.

According to Sami, no woman should be exclusive with any man until he has proposed and there is a ring on her finger.

“Trust me, this method works,” the expert claims.

“Dating one man at a time means we close down all our options early on, which can often make us prematurely commit to a man who may not be the best fit for us in the long run,” she added.

For this reason, Sami recommends a type of dating called “rotational dating.”

This encourages women to see more than one man at the same time.

Sami said: “When you do this, you’re less likely to get too attached to any one of them quickly. This keeps you emotionally objective, and in a position to choose more wisely.

“When women are dating more than one man at once, they also appear to have a high-value status is the eyes of men.

“They instinctively know that they can’t take her for granted, or they’ll lose her to a more deserving candidate,” Sami said.

How to rotational date

Keep it casual: Rotational dating doesn’t mean you have to sleep with everyone. It simply means continuing to see other men for harmless cinema and lunch dates, till one man from your rotation majorly steps up and asks you for your full commitment.

Keep the faith: “In my personal experience, I attracted my husband while rotational dating,” Sami said; “and in the experience of my clients, a man who really wants you will move mountains to be with you, and will not be deterred by the fact that he’s got some competition.

“In fact, this slight competition might actually fire his desire to step up and claim you even more aggressively.”

Don’t entertain guilt: Sami said, “Remember that you’re willing to stop dating other men when one of them gives you his full commitment. So, until then, you have nothing to feel guilty about.”

10 Things to Say to Get Her N*ked Right Now!

Knowing the tricks of getting her clothes off willingly without stress is one of the attributes of a real man and these key points might be helpful.

“I love you”? Ugh! If men knew how many times a woman gets to hear that in a day, they would look for better ways of convincing her to … er … well … open up!

How to go about it? Relationship experts suggest these tried-and-tested lines…

• “You look so hot right now.”

This assertion hardly fails, because you can use it in just about any situation — whether she’s wearing a ball gown or a bikini, says relationship expert, Dr. Carole Lieberman. Truth is, any woman would feel desirable when complimented this way; and, as long as you’re being sincere, you are good to go!

• “I’d love to see you again.”

Use this one with a girl you’ve just met. This line is the less-creepy version of trying to hustle her out the door with a “Let’s go somewhere … quieter.” It shows her that you won’t push her and that you have an interest in seeing her again, says s*x expert, Dr. Nicole Prause.

• “Everything about you turns me on.”

Tell her she turns you on and then go on to compliment her attributes such as her hair, eyes, or curves, says Astroglide sexpert, Dr. Yvonne Fulbright. No matter what her body type, a woman likes to feel like a woman, and wants her guy to think she encompasses everything positive about that, Fulbright says. Any woman would feel good to know that you notice her and that you find her so lovely.

• “You’re so hard to resist.”

Instead of trying to rush her, let her know that you’re not really the kind of guy that pushes women around, but you just can’t help yourself with her. “This makes her feel like she’s better than all the other women you’ve dated,” says Lieberman.

• “I’ve got a suite for the weekend … I’d love to spend it with you.”

Investing a little can get you a lot, says sex expert, April Masini. “Women love luxury hotels, and hotel s*x is the best there could be for just about everyone,” she says. “Make her feel like she’s the cherished guest, and you’ll score a lot more easily.”

• “I’ll do the dishes.”

Getting naked is a sign of vulnerability and trust, according to Clark. So, for her to want to be naked, she must feel safe. While there are plenty of ways to make her feel safe, an easy way is to take care of the things she needs doing, such as chores and errands, especially if she’s been feeling stressed out.

• “I’m not just after s*x.”

This works because it’s exactly the question she’s wrestling with, Lieberman says. ‘Is he just after s*x, or does he really like me?’ But remember, don’t make promises you can’t keep, because you’ll have to answer to them once the s*x is over.

• “You’re the s*xiest woman in the world to me.”

It’s like the first line, but it plays more into her sensuality and her seductiveness. Note how you’re not saying she’s the s*xiest woman in the world, but the s*xiest woman in the world…to you…right now. It’s simple, and highlights your arousal without being too disrespectful, blunt, or forward, says Fulbright.

• “Let me walk you to your car.”

“Both men and women have fears about s*x, but women especially are at a greater risk for getting infections and being assaulted,” says Prause. “Any communication you provide that shows a genuine concern for her safety should promote intimacy.”

Walking her to her car —or to her door — is a low-risk, chivalrous way to show her that you’re the kind of guy who will look out for her both in and out of the bedroom.

• “Let’s wait … I want it to be really special.”

Ironically, saying something like this is enough to make her feel extraordinary and want to jump into bed sooner, says Lieberman. Just make sure that you don’t push it at all if she agrees and wants to wait, because you’ll look like a liar.

Last line: Well, if she looks you straight in the face and calls you a liar, please don’t blame us. You probably are! lol

5 ways to recognize an emotionally-immature partner

Faithfulness, loyalty, care and flaming romance might be the buzzwords when speaking about the traits to desire in a new partner, but these things can only keep the relationship alive for so long.

At some point, the importance of emotional maturity will become very obvious, and especially in a long-term relationship, lack of it in any of the partners could mean trouble.
So how do you know that you or your partner lack emotional maturity?

1. Lack of control over their emotions

Emotionally mature people have mastered the ability to subdue their emotions especially when they are negative. So, where your partner cannot handle criticism even when it is constructive, or where their temper can’t be kept in check, best know they still have work to do on their emotional maturity.
playImmature people can not control their emotions (African Spotlight)

2. Self-centeredness

It is a hallmark of maturity to be able to balance one’s needs with that of others. A partner’s inability to put you into consideration when making decisions, and making the relationship about them, their needs and what they deem right shows some level of immaturity.

3. Dependence

One other thing that screams emotional immaturity is a lack of independence.
Dating someone who is dependent on you for all their happiness, and who literally can not live, laugh and be without you can be exhausting.
playLearning to be by yourself and being independent shows a level of maturity (The Amber Studio)

Emotional maturity signifies that you have reached a stage in your life where you are cool being by yourself, but you decide to share your time, joy and precious moments with someone. Not because you necessarily have to, but because you made the choice to do so.
Entering into a relationship only for the purpose of being scared to be by one’s self is a sure sign of immaturity.

4. Unnecessarily dragging out fights

Knowing when to say sorry especially when you are not at fault has always been a guage for maturity and remains so even till date.
playPartners need to learn to apologise even when they are not at fault (Urunkodo)

Therefore one of the ways to identify someone who’s low on emotional maturity is their insistence on proving that they are right when a simple apology could  settle differences and bring peace back into the relationship.
Love has never thrived where big egos clash… every mature lover recognizes this fact.

5. Undue jealousy

Another sign that characterizes an immature partner is their undue jealousy or feeling threatened by almost everyone of the opposite sex who comes near their partner.
The ability of knowing your place and trusting your partner enough to let them relate with members of the opposite sex without doing you dirty is a sign of being emotionally mature.

Must a Wife Always Say 'Yes' to S*x with Her Hubby? - Nigerian Relationship Expert, Writes

A seasoned Nigerian writer, s*x and relationship expert has penned an interesting and educating piece on the recurring domestic and conjugal activities in matrimonial homes.

Photo used for illustrative purposes only

Forget the old wives’ tale that a married woman must be ever ready to satisfy her husband’s conjugal rites’ (how archaic!) but when push comes to shove, must a wife always be her husband’s ‘obedient servant’ in the bedroom? Some months back, two couples were asked about their mismatched libidos, and how it affected their marriage.

While one partner claimed to be pretty much always in the mood, the other often felt pressured to have s*x when they had little desire to do so. The challenge? For one month, the couples agreed they’d make love every time their partner made an advance.

Would this highlight cracks in their relationship or bring them closer together? Both couples kept diaries for four weeks.

COUPLE 1: Nathaniel, 38 an architect, and wife, Motoke, 40, an industrial nurse have been married for 12 years and have three children. While Nathaniel would like sex every night, Motoke says juggling work and family has sapped her libido, meaning she’s only in the mood a couple of times a month.

Their score: Week 1: twice; Week 2: once, Week 3: once; Week 4: twice. Total: Six times in four weeks.

According to Nathaniel: I’m so excited at the prospect of being able to make love to my wife more often that, on the first night, even though I’m shattered after 12 hours at work, my heart is racing as we climb into bed at 10.30pm; even more thrilling, Motoke actually makes the first move—I cannot remember the last time that happened.

I spend all the next day fantasising about what will happen later, but after a couple of glasses of wine, we both collapsed into bed and fell asleep. I’m too tired to mind. Sex is then off the agenda for a few days as it was Motoke’s ‘time of the month’, but then she actually asks if we can go to bed. You bet!

The next week doesn’t start well. I wake up in the mood when the alarm goes off at 6.30 am, but Motoke grumbles that she wants to go back to sleep as my snoring has been keeping her awake. It seems like we’re back to our old ways. The following evening, I pick up a meal from our favourite eatery hoping a romantic dinner might relax her. Later, she’s happy to cuddle but while I try to initiate love-making she’s clearly tired and things don’t go any further.

A couple of days later, we go to bed early, at Motoke’s suggestion, ostensibly to watch TV, but a goodnight kiss turns into a passionate embrace, and we make love. The following night, Motoke climbs into bed Unclad, and is clearly ‘in the mood’ yet I feel so exhausted. Wow! This is the first time in our married life that I’ve turned her down. It gives me an insight into how Motoke must feel all those times I’ve been in the mood and she hasn’t.

The next two nights, Motoke is out with family friends but on Saturday evening she tells me we’re definitely on for tonight. I don’t even have to ask—fantastic. But at the beginning of the third week, while hurriedly ironing my shirt for work I somehow manage to catch my ‘manhood’ with the iron —a lesson never to iron until you’re fully dressed. I can’t even think about sex over the next couple of days—Motoke appears relieved and amused. Three days later, we try again but unfortunately I’m still too sore. I suspect Motoke is a little frustrated, and that feels great after years of pestering her for sex.

We finally make love a week after the iron incident. Abstinence seems to have boosted our sexual appetites, and two nights later, we’re at it again. Keeping a diary has been great for putting s*x at the forefront of our minds and not allowing it to slip off our busy agendas. I love feeling close to my wife and, best of all, knowing that she now actively wants to make love to me, rather than just doing it to appease me. It‘s made us a lot more playful too, which is great as it doesn’t always happen in a long-standing marriage.

Motoke says: I know there’s no way Nathaniel will pass up the opportunity on the first night —and I’m surprised it only lasts for 15 minutes. He was feeling tired. We decided to give it another go the following night but after a couple of drinks, sleep becomes a far more appealing prospect for both of us. I’m surprised he’s not taking greater advantage of the situation.

Perhaps our libido aren’t as mismatched as I’ve always believed? But when I invite Nathaniel to join me in bed the next evening, his face lights up. Sex twice in one week is unheard of for us. The second week starts with me having a night away. Nathaniel is raring to go when I return. I’m tired but respond to his advances, because that’s what we’ve agreed and to my surprise, I really enjoyed it.

The following evening I’m feeling a bit frisky and wait for him in bed— Unclad. I’m astonished when he rejects me. I feel a little hurt — but this is how he has felt the countless times I’ve rejected him. We’re back on course by the end of the weekend. I seduce him in the living room by the dimmed lights of the TV. It’s very romantic. The enforced five-day abstinence after Nathaniel’s iron accident leaves me looking forward to our next love-making, and it’s wonderful, really reminiscent of when we first fell in love. I think it’s because having sex more regularly has brought us closer together.

This has really helped us reconnect, both physically and emotionally reminding us that we’re not just parents but also lovers. With all the demands of being a working mum it’s easy to lose sight of this, but I am determined not to allow sex to fall to the bottom of my ‘to-do list’ again.

COUPLE 2: Treasure 40, owner of a restaurant and Dipo 41, a legal practitioner have a 3-year-old daughter and an infant son.

S*x score Week 1: three times; Week 2: five times; Week 3: twice; Week 4: Six times. Total 16 times in four weeks.

According to Treasure: Our experiment doesn’t start well. While I spend the first day excited about the prospect of guaranteed sex, plans are ruined when our baby is awake from 10.30pm to 3am. then I’m up with our other child at 6.30am. The next evening, I’m not sure I’ll have the energy—but I start caressing Dipo and very quickly realise the answer is a resounding ‘Yes!’

The following night, he looks resigned when I start kissing him, though he seems to enjoy himself afterwards. The night after that, realising he might take some persuading, I slip into a silky nighties that usually works. It’s all very passionate, but I’m questioning whether it feels like a chore for my husband. At least when we make love normally, I know it’s what he really wants.

He works so hard on Sundays so he could get through his back-log of work that I let him off, then spend two nights with our baby who has tonsillitis. But once the baby’s antibiotics kick in, I’m back in the marital bed. While many women would want to catch up on sleep, sex actually gives me energy so we make love that night.

The following evening, we entertain friends for dinner and I can’t wait to rip his clothes off afterwards. The following two nights, I’m impatient for him to get home from work. I know he’s tired but I tell him love-making is a great way to unwind. But not having to work to get him into bed feels really strange—I’m missing the challenge.

My period slows things down a bit in week three. Then I come home from work to a grumpy husband and I know that propositioning him may make things worse—but, after going without for so long, I’m willing to take the risk so I start kissing him. It pays off. The s*x is very passionate. As we enter the final week, I know I should feel happy that Dipo can’t refuse my advances, but I’m realising our love-life is not as exciting as it was—I miss the chase. This experiment has made me realise how much I enjoy the excitement of not knowing whether Dipo will or won’t succumb to my seduction techniques. Perhaps it wasn’t so bad before.

Dipo says: I haven’t been looking forward to this month. I always enjoy sex but some nights, I’d rather relax in front of the TV. Of course I oblige under the terms of our experiment, but after the first few nights, I feel a bit like a performing dog. To say I’m relieved when Treasure doesn’t make any advances—the following night is huge understatement. But when she has to stay up with the baby, I’m surprisingly disappointed not to be cuddling up with her in bed.

Once the baby is better, my wife is back on form. It’s not easy getting in the mood on nights when all I want to do is sleep, and I even contemplate faking a headache. When she tells me it’s her ‘time of the month’ the following week, I feel as happy as if she’s told me we’d won the lottery!

Like most men, once I get going, I really enjoy it but I don’t like feeling pressured and, with a demanding job and two babies, sleep is sometimes more appealing. Once she’s able to make love again I don’t give in too easily. Work has been challenging, and so are the children, so I’m not in a great mood when my wife starts whispering suggestive things into my ear. However, I’m glad she made the first move because what follows proves to be a great stress-reliever.

All the same, I’m glad when I get to the final week. Not being able to say ‘No’ to sex is beginning to stress me out — I feel a loss of control not knowing when I’m going to be asked to perform. It’s a relief when the challenge ends. Sex should be fun, not a chore. Now I’m going to make her wait a whole week before making love to her again.

Much Ado About the 'Matrimonial Bed'

A Nigerian lawyer and writer has penned an interesting and educative piece on the current happenings in a couple's matrimonial home. It's a must read!

File photo (Image: Dreamstime.com)

So, a fortnight ago, I was watching a movie on Africa Magic Igbo (it’s my favourite pastime), and as usual the wife and her mother in-law were fighting over the couple’s childlessness. As the poor husband was trying to settle issues, the wife turned to him and said (in Igbo), “My anger is not that you brought her (mother in-law) from the village without telling me.

I’m angry because you not only gave her my food, but you allowed her to sleep on our matrimonial bed?! How could you? We have so many rooms in this house, but you chose our matrimonial bed for her to sleep on.”

Maybe it’s just me but I found it totally ridiculous!

Funny enough, this lady in the movie is not alone. I’ve seen and heard so many stories about this “matrimonial bed” issue that you begin to wonder if we are not elevating it to a god of some sort. I even had to ask some of my friends what their views were on this subject and suffice it to say that I was amused by their response.

A lot of them said that nobody, apart from them, their spouse and their kids, would be allowed to sleep or even sit on the bed. When I asked why, all I got was “Onyinye, what are you saying? Which kind of question is that? It is my MATRIMONIAL BED! Just for me and my husband”. Wawu!

In writing this post, I suddenly realized that so many of us, subconsciously, have this “respect” for the matrimonial bed. I remember when we were little, my siblings and I would dare not enter our parents’ room without permission talk less of lying on their bed. If you sit or lie on the bed, you must make sure that the sheets are as straight as you met it. No smudges or wrinkle! And a lot of people have said same.

To show how silly this issue is, a friend of mine said that if she goes to someone’s house and the only space available for sitting or sleeping is the matrimonial bed, she’ll choose to sleep on the floor. Even if it’s a face-me-I-face-you apartment. Lol! When I asked her why, she narrated how her mum and her elder sister finished her with abuse all because she slept on her sister’s matrimonial bed.

She said they were having a huge family party at her sister’s place. Her sister and her husband were kind enough to host the annual party. However, due to the large turn-out (all her cousins, family friends, uncles, aunts, you name it, came for the party), they had problems finding where to sleep.

Her sister and her husband were in the living room with her parents, aunts and uncles having the normal long boring family discussion, so she decided to sleep in her sister’s room cos that was the only room available.

Maybe because she didn’t ask first before sleeping there, she said that not only did her mum wake her up with a slap, her sister had only harsh words for her and it took the intervention of her dad and her sister’s husband before the matter was settled. Her sister didn’t talk to her for days. She said she received the insult of her life, with some nosy aunts pouring fuel inside fire.

I know this sounds really extreme. I had a hard time believing her. I mean, is it possible for you get dragged by family members all because you went to sleep in your sister’s bed?

Yes, the Bible talks about keeping the marriage bed pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. But my question is, why can’t someone outside of the couple and kids sleep on the matrimonial bed? Why is it such a huge deal for us? Is there more to it than a piece of wood supporting a mattress? Or is it just a Nigerian thing?

I personally don’t think that when the Bible says keep the marriage bed pure, it means that the only people that can use the bed are the husband and wife. Or does it?

I would really love to understand where we got this concept of “it’s my matrimonial bed, so don’t you dare sleep on it!”

Revealed: This is the Time of Day Women Want S*x the Most

A new study has revealed the time of the day most women prefer to engage in s*x which makes it more pleasurable for them.

A new study has revealed the most popular time of day most women prefer to get down and dirty.

According to a report by Dailystar, it turns out the majority of ladies agree that the evening is the hottest hour, according to a new survey by Sleepcupid.com.

Researchers quizzed 3,000 ladies from the US and UK about when they had the naughtiest thoughts. A whopping 78.7% admitted that they felt horny in the evening, followed by 42.3% who fantasied about getting frisky in the afternoon.

The least popular time for thinking about sex was lunchtime (8.2%) followed by the morning (32.9%).

Researchers said: “Survey respondents think about sex in the morning but by lunchtime thoughts turned to having something to eat.

“Results show that food comes before sex for most of us.

"Lunchtime was not popular for thinking about sex. No food, no energy right?

“The afternoon and evening are the most heightened times of day for women’s sexual thoughts.

"This is only natural with women preparing to finish work most days, going out in the evening or back home to partners.”

Meanwhile the study also revealed the ultimate locations that turn ladies on – and they may surprise you.

Bizarrely getting down and dirty on the stairs was the most popular answer, so perhaps you should pause there awhile before moving things onto the bedroom.

The survey also revealed that sex on the beach is a popular fantasy for lots of ladies, closely followed by getting jiggy at a big event like a wedding.

In fourth place was doing it on a plane meaning many would like to tick “joining the Mile High Club” off their bucket list.

Some girls dreamt about getting out into the great outdoors and romping in the garage or backyard and getting hot and steamy in the office also proved popular.

Here Are 7 Weird Signs You Might Have a Heart Problem

For your own safety and life, check out these seven signs that could indicate that you might have a heart problem.

*Photo used for illustrative purpose*

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's most recent statistics, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women over 35, accounting for one in every four deaths. This is why you must take good care of your heart to be healthy and keep living. Here are signs you should take serious indicating that you might have a heart disease according to Women'sHealth.

1. Swollen Legs and Ankles
That extra-large burrito may not be the only reason you're feeling super bloated. While leg bloating can result from all kinds of things, it can also be caused by a heart valve problem. A build up of fluids (a.k.a. edema) is a common symptom of congestive heart failure, when your heart is unable to process blood in and out at the proper rate, says Goldberg.

Before you freak out, know that this type of swelling, in contrast to run-of-the-mill bloating, will get worse with time and/or begin creeping further up your body. So if the swelling reaches that point of severity, you know it's time to call a doctor.

2. Headaches
Before you pop a Tylenol and shrug off that head pain, know that severe headaches can be symptomatic of a stroke or blood clot, too, says Goldenberg. While a headache alone isn't necessarily indicative of a heart issue, if you're experiencing it along with other symptoms like stiffness in your neck, fatigue, or dizziness, or it comes on suddenly, you could be in danger of an aneurysm and should seek medical attention.

We asked a hot doc how to treat a headache without meds. Here's what he said:

3. Exhaustion
This might be the hardest sign to decipher because there are a million reasons you might feel tired—lack of sleep, stress, etc. But here we're talking an abnormal level of fatigue. "If you're relatively fit and all of a sudden start feeling winded climbing a flight of stairs, there's a problem," says Goldberg. Another sign: If you're feeling a level of weakness that you'd previously only experienced when sick with the flu. In this case, your heart may be struggling to oxygenate your body.

While this symptom is easy to dismiss, particularly for women who refuse to slow down, it should be a red flag if you're experiencing it along with any other strange symptoms.

4. Stomach Cramping
Many people assume heart pain is felt directly in the chest, or in the left arm, says Goldberg. But what some don't realize is that the pain can radiate elsewhere in the body, too. "It's not uncommon that I see people complaining of stomach pain, when really the issue is their heart," she says.

When you're feeling those sharp stomach cramps, it's possible that your heart is radiating pain signals to your stomach. Although this could also indicate the flu or heartburn, Goldberg says if it's something you've never felt before, go to a doctor just to be sure.

5. Fainting
Fainting is the result of a drop in blood pressure, and that can be brought on by a number of things from changes in posture (think: that rush to the head you get when you get out of bed too fast) to which medications you're taking. But it could also be indicative of a more serious issue. A valve disorder that doesn't allow proper blood flow, a too slow or too fast heartbeat, or an aortic tear could all be the cause for fainting, says Goldberg.

If you faint in an isolated incident, it probably isn't cause for concern. On the other hand, you should consider seeing a doctor if you're fainting persistently or have fainted and are experiencing additional symptoms.

6. Dizziness
Like many of these symptoms, occasional dizziness is not a cause for concern. That light-headed feeling could result from standing up too quickly, dehydration, etc. But if the dizziness persists, that's when it's time to see a doctor. If the problem is your heart, it's likely due to artery blockages or valve issues messing with your blood pressure, says Goldberg.

7. Upper Back Pressure
Again, a heart attack isn't always felt in the heart. Often patients say a heart attack feels like there's an elephant sitting on their chest; but that elephant could also be on your upper back, says Goldberg. If you're feeling an overwhelming amount of pressure on your upper back, that could be a sign of a heart attack.

7 Sure Ways of Getting Your Ex-boyfriend Back After Break-Up

Sometimes, we think a break up is the best thing after bread and butter when things go south in a relationship. Emotions are boiling, swords are drawn, words are exchanged and then we decide it is best we go our separate ways.

It is however surprising when you discover that the person who seemed to cause you pain is one your heart will not let go. The heart will always want what it wants. So, what if after a break up, you discover that you still love your ex-boyfriend? Forget what many people say.

A modest figure of 60% of people in relationships have experienced break up at some time.

So why did they get back? Because the break up gave them time to assess themselves and showed them how valuable the relationship they had was. So, if you still love your ex, don't be shy about it or deny it. Even marriage will have its own issues, and you can't opt out because of it. No, you stay to fix it.

Getting your ex-boyfriend back is not an impossible task. It will just require considerable effort if your relationship was real while it lasted. Here are a couple of things you can do to get him back.

1. Is it worth it:

You need to really be sure if your ex is worth going back to. If he has serious issues like cheating or assault, kindly save yourself from unnecessary future pain and invest your precious energy in to other productive activities. That means it is pointless following the points in this article. If he is worth it, you may then proceed.

2. How did the break up come about:

The first step to treating an illness is accurate diagnosis. You need to know what caused the problem. Was it from your end or it was his fault? Many a time, we lay the entire blame for the failure of a thing on our partner simply because we are the alternative. Even if he was at fault, you need to see the role you may have played in it.

3. Work on yourself:

Rather than mope about, improve your character. Work on your attitude and let go of bad habits that you may have. Also, take out time to change your looks. Obviously, this is one way of attracting his attention since men are creatures of sight. Make a new hairdo, get yourself new outfits and engage in exercise if need be. Those two are absolutely important. While your looks may attract him, your new character will keep him with you.

4. What kind of man is he:

You stand a brighter chance of having him back since you know him. And the good news is, guys are basically single celled. I mean we are easy to understand and predict once you know us. How does your ex like you to relate with him? You should know your way. How does he like to have issues settled?

5. Mutual friends can come in handy:

It is will help if you let close mutual friends that you both share know about your intentions. However, you need to be choosy about who you approach. Not every friend that smiles with you roots for your relationship with him. Intimate them of your plans and get their advise on how to go about it. They are your invaluable asset here.

6. Agree with him:

Agreeing with him does not necessarily mean that he is totally right and you are wrong. Instead, it means you choose to see things from his perspective and acknowledge that his opinion is valid. Wherever there is a misunderstanding, you need to find the understanding that I missing. Be humble in your approach and gentle with your choice of words.

7. Apologize for your fault:

Since we already established that both parties have their share in the blame, apologize for your faults. If your ex is thoughtful, he will naturally feel obligated to own up to his wrongs. However, you need to take some time before you implement this stage. Rome was not built in a day. Don't try to rush the process.

Five Things You Should NEVER Do During S*x

Looking for a way to make s*x an enjoyable experience, here are pitfalls you must avoid during love making.
*Photo used for illustrative purpose*

For your own safety, here are five things you should never do during s*x, according to Dailystar.

Here are five things you should avoid during the act:

1. Forget about your risk of STDs
Across the world more than half of all people will have an STI in their lifetime and roughly one million people catch some type of sexual infection every day.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been tested, if you have sex without a condom you are still putting yourself at risk of catching a sex disease.

In fact you can even catch an STI without having sex, so always make your sexual health a priority.

2. Put food in the wrong places
Playing around with food in the bedroom can be sexy, but don’t start sticking it places it shouldn’t go – like inside her vagina or anus.

Bits of food can break off and become lodged inside people’s bodies and it’s a common problem for emergency room doctors.

Stick to sex toys to be safe between the sheets – they can even make you last longer in bed.

3. Pressure her to finish
Remember that one in three women have trouble orgasming during sex and a massive 80% can’t come from penetration alone, according to Planned Parenthood stats.

Forget about making her climax during sex and switch to foreplay or self-stimulation instead.

4. Go too hard or too fast
Getting too vigorous with your thrusting technique can do damage to both parties.

It can lead to little tears in her vagina or break your schlong.

Leah Millheiser, M.D., ob-gyn, clinical assistant professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, told Men’s Health: “Avoid vigorous thrusting at odd or stressful angles, since a misplaced thrust could lead to inadvertent fracture of the penis.”

5. Use the wrong lube
If you’re using traditional latex condoms during your romp, stick to a water or silicone-based lubricant.

Dr Leah explained: “If you’re using a latex condom, do not use an oil-based lube – including natural lubricants like olive or coconut oil – because they break down the latex and the condom becomes ineffective.”

More Nigerian Women Finding New Ways to Satisfy Themselves Sexually

More and more women are now open and looking for conventional ways to satisfy themselves sexual using new and innovative methods many considered a taboo.
*Photo used for illustrative purpose*

It was a cultural taboo for a woman to ask for sexual gratification in Nigeria, until now.

Despite being bombarded by sexually suggestive photos, explicit lyrics and raunchy dance moves in the media, many women are brought up with the socially conservative attitude that "good girls" just do not talk about sex.

But Iheoma Obibi is leading a mini-revolution in bedrooms in the West African nation.
She became the country's first retailer of sexual health products and erotica after getting requests from friends to buy sex toys on her annual trips to London.

"They were asking me to buy vibrators, nipple suckers, lubricants, water-based lubricants which were non-flavoured, specifically with a pH balance for the female genitalia."

Realising there was a niche market, the former development worker set up her online shop five years ago. It was not easy at first - and she had to build up a clientele while fending off the critics.

One became so threatening she needed police protection.

But luckily that is a thing of the past and she now caters primarily for women, and some men, whose ages range from 20 to 70.
Ms Obibi also provides sex education and awareness sessions online under the hashtag #Sextalk.

It is for anyone with questions or a curiosity about issues from how to find one's G-spot to explaining an orgasm, even suggesting positions.
"Part of the problem we face in Nigeria and Africa generally, is that women are shy about negotiating their sexual pleasure," she says.

"What we are told is you have to save yourself for your marriage and be a virgin. When you marry, you are there to satisfy your husband.
"You are not really told that you are there for any pleasurable fulfilment. You're told that you have sex for procreation."
But now some women are having conversations with their partners and the market in sex aids in Nigeria is growing.

The reaction of men is not always positive, some regarding this sexual openness with suspicion, derision, anger and even sometimes disgust.
Or it is a question of dented pride, not wanting to admit they have never quite hit the right spot with their wife or girlfriend?

Not surprisingly, sex-toy sellers admit to having many customers who buy and use aids in secret.

Orgasmic writing
Anticipating a negative reaction, some women in search of sexual pleasure use other means to gain that satisfaction. Some turn to the work of Chioma Ogwuegbu, a statistician by profession, who writes hard-core erotic fiction in her spare time. She contributes to a Nigeria erotic website, and she and other writers cannot keep up with the demand.

Ms Ogwuegbu makes no apologies for the writing, which some might say borders on soft porn.
"It's not an intellectual exercise. I'm not trying to win a Nobel prize," she says.

"The first story that I published on this website, was one of the best stories. It had the highest hits. And the thing that struck me about that story is that it was focused on the woman's pleasure.

"It was about the woman having orgasms."

These fictional stories depict fantasies that many Nigerian women can only imagine.

She says it is content that mainly appeals to women who are in their 30s and older, who are more sexually mature.

"As I became more sexually aware, I actually became more comfortable in my decisions about sex and sexuality, being able to own them and say: 'Fine I have sex, it's OK, it's not a crime to have sexual desires, sexual pleasure.'"

For JB Macauley, a man in his 60s who I spoke to at a social club in Lagos, acknowledging a woman's needs is perhaps something the younger generation will take in their stride.

"I can believe that the younger guys are more experimental - we are just coming of the sexual darkness, but we'll get there," he said.
His younger friend agreed: "We've been brought up with the same sexual habit and the same environment, but I think our generation is prepared to be a bit flexible."

Ms Obibi realises such views are probably in the minority.

But every day she is called by at least one new customer enquiring about the products she sells and how they can bring sexual fulfilment.
Many of her clients are still in relationships where it is impossible to even consider discussing or negotiating a simple touch - let alone a new position.

"For many women unfortunately it comes very, very late in life - the awareness that their bodies can give them pleasure."
