The ruling All Progressives Congress secretariat in Abuja has been left in a state of darkness following the failure of the leadership to pay power bills.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has disconnected electricity supply to the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its inability to settle a N1.2m debt.

The secretariat is on Blantyre Street, Wuse II Abuja. It was learnt in Abuja, on Monday, that the AEDC is seeking a balance of N1.2m after the party paid N.5m out of the outstanding N1.7m debt accumulated over time.

A copy of the receipt of payment of the N.5m pasted at the entrance of the party secretariat indicated that the payment was made on October 24, 2016 via a Zenith Bank cheque, with deposit slip number: 316088.

The document also has PHCN receipt number: 0024102016000 and payment reference number: ZIB/PHCN/24-10-2016 with the (original) customer name written as the Nigeria Export Promotion Council clearly written out.

A member of staff of the AEDC, however, confided in a correspondent that the disconnection was actually carried out close to two weeks ago “when the management felt the party has not shown sufficient commitment towards meeting its obligations.”

The source said, “I understand they have made a part payment of N500, 000 out of the debt. I cannot say if this gesture is sufficient to enable us to restore power to the building.”

None of the party officials was willing to speak on the record about the issue because “it is too embarrassing.”

However, a high ranking party member who spoke in confidence said, “You know the country is in recession. We are not immune to the funding challenges facing other sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Humiliating Tinubu, Is Humiliating The Entire Yoruba Race, Fayose Tells APC

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has asked APC as a whole to stop humiliating one of its National leaders, Asiwaju Bola Tinubiu saying it is a slap on Yoruba race and as a matter of fact, it is insulting the entire race too. He said;

“Even though I am not a member of the APC and I will never be, I have elected to stand in defence of the Yoruba nation once again by saying no to the continuous dishonourable treatment being meted out to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, having paid his dues.

“If Tinubu is allowed to be embarrassed and disgraced, just the way our past leaders were humiliated by these same elements, the Yoruba nation would have been made to suffer for uprightness.”

“It is unfortunate that Tinubu is now being vilified in a party he invested heavily in, and his fellow kinsmen that he brought up politically are part of this conspiracy.

“In their desperation, they have even tried to set him against the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, by insinuating that he tried to prevent his (Osinbajo’s) emergence as President Mohammadu Buhari’s running mate; this is sad.

“When other tribes protect their own people; it is becoming historically common among the Yoruba people to allow themselves to be used against their leaders just for momentary political gains at the expense of the collective interest of the Yoruba nation.

“It should be noted that the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was sent to jail by the conspiracy and collaboration of some Yoruba people with the external aggressors.”

He further said Tinubu was a prominent stakeholder and should not be humiliated.

“Most importantly, it is my position that irrespective of political affiliation, no leader of the Yoruba nation must be vilified unduly, especially by the same people who humiliated our past leaders like Obafemi Awolowo, Adekunle Ajasin, Bola Ige, Bisi Onabanjo, Lateef Jakande and others.

“To me, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should not just be seen as an APC leader, but acknowledged as a major stakeholder in the Yoruba nation that we must all protect beyond politics.

”It should be recalled that these were among the issues that I raised when I visited Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State few months ago on the need to work together beyond party affiliations.

“Here in Yorubaland, it is said that if a household is at peace, it is because the bastard child of the family has  yet to attain the age of maturity and those people that Asiwaju Tinubu made, but are now being used against him should watch it.

“I therefore condemn this conspiracy against Asiwaju Tinubu and I admonish those that are hoping to make political benefits from it to have a rethink.”

It is very regrettable that APC didn’t keep to their promise - Jimmy Agbaje

Every youth in Nigeria will like to see PDP reformed, and the reformation has started.”

You have failed, APC chieftain tells Buhari

The factional chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State, Hussaini Mairiga, yesterday came down hard on President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a total failure.

Mairiga, who spoke with journalists in Kano, said “from the looks of things, President Buhari has betrayed the confidence of the Nigerian masses who voted for him massively into power.”

The factional chairman said it was not an exaggeration that members of many families in the country go to bed without at least one square meal, while others had fled their homes because they could no longer provide the basic needs of life for their loved ones.

Mairiga, who is known for his bluntness, expressed worry that after one year of the Buhari administration in power, there was nothing to show while poverty in the country had reached an unprecedented level. He lamented that while a bag of rice now sold for N16, 000, prices of other essentials commodities had tripled.

Mairiga noted with dismay that prices of goods were rising at a time the ordinary man did not have money to make a living. Another disturbing scenario, according to the factional APC chairman, was that those around the president, including his ministers, had refused to tell him the truth and advice on the reality on ground. He reminded Buhari of his campaign promises, stating that he did not like the way the masses were allowed to wallow in destitution and penury.

He said Nigerians were in the worst condition that needed urgent attention. The APC chairman advised the President to stop deceiving Nigerians that the nation had no money whereas on monthly basis, the federal and states governments continued to enjoy a boost in their allocations.

BREAKING News: Gov. Fayose Makes History as He Officially Bans Cattle Grazing in Ekiti

The governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has made history today after he announced a blanket ban on cattle grazing and rearing in the state.
Speaking on Monday during his visit to Oke-Ako in Ikole LGA of Ekiti state where two residents were killed and others injured on Friday by assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, Governor Ayodele Fayose, has banned grazing and rearing of cattle in the state, saying those interested in cattle farming should get their own private cattle ranch.
The influential politician who became the first ever state executive to take such a drastic measure in the country, also said a bill to make the movement of cattle from one location to another criminal in the state would soon be sent to the State House of Assembly.
The outspoken governor warned that government would henceforth confiscate any cattle seen anywhere in the State apart from ranch created for them by their owners, adding that the Fulani herdsmen that attacked Oke-Ako and other communities in the country as 'agents of the devil that must be fished out and punished accordingly.'
"We will not leave our lands for Fulani herdsmen and in a system where the leadership of the country looks the other way while our people are being killed, we will have no option than to defend ourselves by whatever means.

"I have come here to commiserate with the people of Oke-Ako over the murder of two of our people by these evil Fulani herdsmen. I am also here to assure that this will be the last time your community will be invaded by Fulani herdsmen under whatever guise.

"I have directed that cattle rearing and grazing should stop in Ekiti State and those interested in cattle farming should henceforth do so in their own cattle ranch.

"No more movement of cattle from one location to another in the State and any cattle seen anywhere in Ekiti State apart from the ranch created for them by their owners will be confiscated by the government and their owners will be prosecuted.

"A bill to this effect will be sent to House of Assembly for passage into law to criminalise cattle owners whose cattle are found moving from one location the other in the State.

"If President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the patron of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has refused to call the herdsmen to order, we in Ekiti will no longer harbour herdsmen who go about killing our people, destroying our farmlands and raping our women.

"If the same President Buhari that was so concerned about the killing of Fulani herdsmen in in Saki, Oke Ogun Area of Oyo State such that he, as a private citizen led Arewa to Ibadan on October 13, 2000, to confront the then Governor of Oyo State, late Alhaji Lam Adesina is now keeping silent when the same herdsmen are killing our people, we must rise and defend ourselves.

"It is our duty to protect our people and we are going to do that without fear or favour. One wonders how Nigerians can go back to farming when those already in the farms are losing billions of naira worth of crops to destruction of their farmlands by the Fulani Herdsmen and the Federal Government is not doing anything about it," the governor said.
