Nobody forced me to concede defeat in the 2015 election

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday disclosed that he was neither persuaded nor forced to concede defeat to President Buhari after the 2015 presidential election. Jonathan said this when he spoke at the convocation ceremony of Bingham University, Nassarawa state where he was awarded a honorary doctorate degree. 

‘It is my belief that no one’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. And I am fulfilled knowing that my conceding while the votes were still being compiled, which was born out of my personal principles and convictions, is generating positive impact in other nations. Let me make it clear, that I was not persuaded to do so by anyone within or outside the country. I know it was the right thing to do. ‘’My mantra “my ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian” is my vow. It was not just a political slogan. One of the reason I convened the 2014 National Conference was to come up with a polity devoid of tension and crisis. A polity that will bring unity to this country. A polity that will not divide us along tribal, ethnic or religious lines’’ he said

Drama as Gunmen Snatch Electoral Materials in Amaechi's Ward

Unknown gunmen laid siege at Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi's ward and snatched away electoral materials.

Gunmen have invaded unit 16, ward 8 in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, the home country of Chibuike Amaechi and hijacked electoral material, Punch reports.

 

It was gathered that the incident took place in the afternoon when the gunmen stormed the polling unit and shot sporadically in the air forcing voters to flee for their lives before hijacking the material into the bush around.

 

One of the voters, Sir Celestine Omehia who had just voted at the unit and left before the incident worried that there were no soldiers at the units, although had commended the Independent National electoral commission for the security arrangements.

 

However, Mr. Chibuike Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, has led a team of security personnel in search of the hoodlums.

Meanwhile voting is yet to commence in some unit in the area including that of Amaechi, unit 14.

We all know Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump personally in the early hours of November 9 to concede the 2016 presidential election, but we've struggled with imagining how that conversation could have possibly gone down. What could Clinton have said in what was sure to be an incredibly difficult conversation?

In a 60 Minutes interview (which is set to air November 13), Trump shared how the conversation went. As Us Weekly reports, the President-Elect was actually very complimentary of Clinton and the whole exchange.

"So, Hillary called, and it was a lovely call, and it was a tough call for her I mean, I can imagine," Trump said in the interview. "Tougher for her than it would have been for me. I mean, for me, it would have been very, very difficult."

After describing the call itself as "lovely," Trump went on to praise Clinton directly, which is a nice change from the rhetoric he engaged in during the campaign. To be clear, this doesn't erase the things that were said on the campaign trail, but in these hard and, for many Americans, frightening days following the election, kind words can feel like a scarce commodity.

"She couldn't have been nicer," Trump continued. "She just said, 'Congratulations, Donald, well done.' And I said, 'I want to thank you very much, you were a great competitor.' She is very strong and very smart."

Trump Campaign Official Says Hillary Will Be Dead Within A Year & Replaced With VP

John E. Jaggers, who heads the Donald Trump campaign effort in Maryland and battleground Northern Virginia, is predicting rival Hillary Clinton will be dead in a year and claims Clinton is covering up an undisclosed illness with 'wool coat' she wore on Nantucket Island.

Jaggers, who is also a Tea Party leader, made the startling statement about Clinton's morbidity while also floating a theory that suggests there is more than just sartorial discretion behind Clinton's decision to sport a long coat on a recent trip to Nantucket to raise campaign cash.

He apparently was referencing an online rumor that Clinton's garment might be being used to cover up a mystery illness. 

'How many of you would wear a wool coat in August?' Jaggers asked at the resort event, the Loudoun Times-Mirror reported.

'The woman who seeks to be the first female president of the United States wears a wool coat at every single thing. Have you ever stopped to wonder why? It's a big deal, folks,' Jaggers added.

Then he continued with his unsourced opinion about Clinton's health – taking a page from Trump, who has said Clinton lacks the 'stamina' to be president and has mocked for for excessive sleeping. 

'This woman is very, very sick and they're covering it up. You're not so much talking about Hillary Clinton being president for eight years – you're talking about Tim Kaine being president for eight years,' he said, mentioning Clinton's running mate, a Virginia native. 'Because that's what we're dealing with here.'

Zambia's President Edgar Lungu Declared Election Winner

Zambia's President Edgar Lungu has been re-elected, according to official results, which are being challenged by the main opposition party.
The electoral commission said Mr Lungu had secured 50.35% in Thursday's vote, just over the 50% threshold needed to avoid a second round under a new electoral system.
His main rival, Hakainde Hichilema, who alleges electoral fraud, won 47.67%.
Earlier, his UPND party withdrew from the ballot verification process.

Trump Calls US Media Disgusting & Corrupt, Says They Protect Hillary

Donald Trump has exploded over the 'disgusting and corrupt media' he says is holding him back after a New York Times article claimed his advisers had tried to rein in his 'incendiary' behavior. 

The article, published over the weekend, claims that Ivanka Trump, her husband and Trump's political team held an intervention on June 20 - and that he agreed to change his tune, but fell back into old habits.

Now the article was met with vitriol by the candidate, who described the newspaper as 'failing' and its remarks as 'false' Sunday, and blasted the wider media as 'corrupt'.

The article, titled 'Inside the Failing Mission to Tame Trump's Tongue,' cites four unnamed insiders as saying that Trump was forced into the intervention in June.

It says the group - which also included Chris Christie and Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort - demanded that he start using a teleprompter and 'end his freestyle digressions and insults.'

And, the article claims, he agreed - but followed that up with popularity-killing attacks on the parents of a slain Muslim US soldier and the alleged incitement of the assassination of Hillary Clinton.

But on Sunday morning the Republican candidate took to Twitter to denounce the article - and wider media.

'The failing @nytimes talks about anonymous sources and meetings that never happened,' the candidate fumed. 'Their reporting is fiction. The media protects Hillary!'

He continued: 'The failing @nytimes, which never spoke to me, keeps saying that I am saying to advisers that I will change. False, I am who I am-never said.'

He then turned his glare to the wider media, accusing 'bias' of stripping him of a 20 per cent lead on Hillary Clinton.

'If the disgusting and corrupt media covered me honestly and didn't put false meaning into the words I say, I would be beating Hillary by 20%.'

'My rallies are not covered properly by the media. They never discuss the real message and never show crowd size or enthusiasm.'

Four hours later, Trump returned to the topic, ranting that the media is 'protecting' Clinton, whom he described as 'not a talented person or politician.'

'I am not only fighing Crooked Hillary, I am fighting the dishonest and corrupt media and her government protection process,' he fumed. 'People get it!'

He added: 'It is not "freedom of the press" when newspapers are allowed to say and write whatever they want even if it is completely false!'
