” Also, the security agencies did not also show up on time because many of them had moved to the scene of the blasts. Also, the NSCDC did not show up on time,” she said.Haliru Umar, The JAMB Supervisor, at the ETC Centre one and two said that about 4,000 students would be sitting for the exam in the centre.

“In this centre this morning, we started with about 250 students. We still have about 17 more sessions for the exams.

"So far, the exercise was very successful as some of them have started coming out.

“We have taken good security measures by providing sufficient security to protect the students to enable them to write their exams successfully,” he said.

Halima Isa, one of the Candidates said she wrote the test in fear but said it was successful.

“We were scared because there was bomb last but I think everything is fine now,” she said.

Police Officer Kills Herself After Boyfriend Dumped Her

A heartbroken special constable text a friend saying her boyfriend had "absolutely destroyed me" before killing herself when he ended the relationship, an inquest heard.

Dr Sara Gilks, 32, who had a distinguished academic career and considered one of West Yorkshire Police's most respected volunteer officers, told friends she was shattered by the break-up.

The court was told that she had begun to research suicide methods over the internet before she was found dead in her bed by her friend Diane Hirst.

She told the inquest: “I received a message from her saying her boyfriend had split up with her and she was ‘proper gutted’. She was very upset.

“It was clear that she was so shocked by what had happened. He had booked a skiing holiday for them. The next morning, she said she couldn’t stop crying.”

Diane became worried when she did not hear from her friend again and two days later she let herself in Sara’s flat in Huddersfield during the evening.

She said: “I went into her bedroom. She was wearing her pyjamas. I grabbed her arm, it was cold. There were packets of tablets on the bed.

“I was so shocked and upset I couldn’t speak. I never thought she would do such a thing.”

Bradford Coroner’s Court was told Dr Gilks worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester.

She had graduated Huddersfield University with a first in forensic and analytic chemistry in 2009 before gaining a PhD from the University of Manchester.

But she had a history of depression and her self-confidence evaporated in the aftermath of relationship breakdowns.

Det Con Simon Thomas said she had been using her mobile phone for internet research on suicide methods.

On text message she sent read “he has absolutely destroyed me” while another said “he was so loving towards me and then he does this.”

On the day of her death in March, she had taken a fatal overdose and had also left a note.

Coroner Martin Fleming concluded that she had taken her own life adding it was clear that the latest break-up had “severely impacted on her.”

62 Nigerians Committed Suicide In The Last 6 Months- Police

The official confirmation that the Nigerian economy is in recession by the Federal Government on August 31, appears to have further stimulated more suicide cases across the nation. In the last six months, seven out of the 36 states of the federation sampled, have recorded over 62 cases of suicides according to statistics from the various police commands by Saturday Telegraph

Ogun and Lagos states have the highest figures of 25 and 12 respectively. Although, psychologists had predicted this, while citing financial and economic troubles that many Nigerians are currently facing, many are still surprised at the huge statistics.

The poor economy has compelled companies to close shop because of harsh operating environment and difficulties in sourcing foreign exchange. Consequently, many have been thrown into the Labour market, thereby increasing people’s anxiety, depression and frustration.

According to Saturday Telegraph investigations, many are now embracing suicide as short cut to end hardship and economic nightmares not minding that Nigerians consider the act a taboo. With this, their supposed misery and suffering brought about by the prevailing recession are buried with them.

Teacher Hangs Self After Man Ends Their 2-Year Relationship

A teacher has hanged herself after being dumped by her boyfriend, an inquest has heard. The family of Katie Humpage, 32, also detailed how they tragically discovered her body at her Walsall home in the West Midlands on July 26.

Black Country Coroner Zafar Saddique today recorded a verdict of a suicide over the death of the popular teacher.

Ms Humpage taught English at South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy, where she met her partner Joe Clarke. The inquest at Black Country Coroners Court heard Ms Humpage initially took a overdose in June after Mr Clarke broke up with her after two years together.

Katie was offered support by the mental health unit at Walsall Manor Hospital after but she declined the help, saying she did not want to die.

Mr Clarke told the inquest: "We went on holiday but I ended the relationship soon after we arrived back, as I could not see a future together."

He said Katie had told him via text message she overdosed due to the break-up but later tried to retract the statement.

He said had no reason to believe Katie would then go on to commit suicide. The inquest was told that by July she seemed to be getting over the break-up before taking another bad turn.

She was upset when she spoke to her mum on the phone on the day of death about the break-up and how she could see little point going on with her life.

Katie’s stepfather Lee Horney told the inquest he grew concerned when he called her but received no answer.

"I was worried so I went to her house," he said.

"I had my own key. Her house was in darkness. I eventually gained entry and went upstairs, which is where I found Katie lying on the bed.

"I called the ambulance and was about to perform CPR. But the paramedics arrived and she had already passed away."

New York State Assemblyman Commits Suicide Just As He Was Supposed To Turn Himself In For A Fraud Case

A New York State Assemblyman committed suicide this morning, just as he was scheduled to turn himself into the FBI on a fraud charge.

Officials say Bill Nojay, a Republican representing the 133rd Assembly seat in Upstate New York, shot himself near his brother's grave in the family burial plot at Riverside Cemetery in Rochester, around 9:22am.

Nojay's brother Robert was severely disabled and died in 1999.

The 59-year-old politician reportedly called his lawyer this morning, saying he planned to take his life.

A police officer tracked Nojay down to the cemetery but he pulled the trigger before the cop could stop him.

Nojay is survived by a wife , Debra, and three children. They live in Pittsford, New York.

Nojay was up for re-election this Tuesday in the GOP primary, and Bill Reilich, the Republican chair for Monroe County, told the Democrat and Chronicle that he appeared 'upbeat' ahead of the election and 'always anticipated he would do well'.

Nojay was reportedly due in court on Friday to discuss a case regarding a woman in Cambodia, who claims that he and two other men scammed her.

A top Mississippi police Chief, Mike DeNardo has fatally shot himself in the chest after walking out of the Bay St. Louis police station around 3 p.m. Thursday. He was rushed to an area hospital but could not be saved.

DeNardo stunned many of his men by killing himself moments after he was suspended without pay. Shocked colleagues said the shooting appeared intentional.

"It's just a bad day — a bad day for law enforcement," Hancock County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Don Bass said.

New York Daily News reports that DeNardo was under investigation by the sheriff's department for an ongoing personnel issue and had just been stripped off some of his police equipment when he unexpectedly took his own life.

But the 12-year department veteran would most likely have been cleared of any wrongdoing, the mayor of the touristy Mississippi Gulf Coast town said.

"He was just a tremendous public servant, and he's going to be greatly missed," Mayor Les Fillingame said, refusing to go into specifics about DeNardo's suspension.

While complaining, the Assistant District Attorney Crosby Parker told WLOX-TV some credible evidence about DeNardo had surfaced, prompting an investigation.

"At this point, it would be inappropriate to talk about it," Parker said. "Our condolences go out to his family for the loss."
